My First Few Months.

So, I made it thru Swift's driver training... If you wanna know my thoughts on that, please private message me... I have nothing bad to say, but I did notice a few things that could have used improvement.

I got my CDL, and went thru the 6 week over the road with a mentor. It was actually the better part of it all.. My mentor was a very strong Christian, by my judgement, that is... I never heard him curse, or talk about lot lizards, or any of the other things I heard horror stories about... I actually managed to make it home several times to see my family, while he was seeing his family... So all in all, it was an ok time...

My truck is a little old, and has some miles on it, but mechanically it seems to work well... I am picking up my first load tomorrow, less than 60 miles from my hometown... Yeah, I know, probably a very rare occurence... and the load is only 300 miles... But thats ok too... Miles are miles are miles... They add up eventually... I know I probably wont make too much money my first few months, but I am hoping I pick up what I need to pick up fast so I can at least make more money each week...

Any drivers that can offer tips, other than find a new place to work, let me know, Im all ears...
Oh, I am also without net access on the road at the moment... So, I hope to read some positive comments when I sign on again...
Keep it safe out there guys and gals!! And if you see a guy with a goatee stepping out of an old freightliner columbia that looks like its made daily deliveries to a hammer factory at your local truck stop, step over and say hello... Ill try to not block the fuel lane for too long....

You sound like you have the right attitude to do well out on the road. Keep your good spirits up even when things aren't going so well and you will make it. Good luck and stay safe.

As long as you can keep that attitude you be fine, just remember take your time and try not to get flustered and make any hasty maneuvers, take a deep breath and go slow in tight spots. good luck ps you'll be in a newer truck in no time

You appear to have the exact same attitude that I did when I started with PAM. Keep it up and you'll do just fine. Even the "bad" companies can have some success stories.
