You need 1 year OTR experience to be hired at their stated pay rate. They will hire select limited experience drivers or student drivers that have completed a PTDI certified class. After training, student drivers are payed 34cpm I think, not positive on that, it may be 36cpm. Limited experience drivers are payed up to 40cpm for the first year. There are a number of variables. Please call a recruiter for solid information. I'm just pulling these of the top of my head and not absolutely sure of their accuracy.

My school is not PTDI certified. I was very lucky that Crete changed their requirements for which schools they hire from. This happened right about the time I graduated, so I was fortunate. I also discussed this with the Terminal Manager at which I went to for the 'paperwork'.

I'll try to clear up my situation while trying to make sure I don't give away too much info about myself:

    1. I drove for a company immediately before I went to Crete. I was working for this company and decided to leave it. I wasn't starting out green.

    2. This company I left was a company I drove for during the summers-only for about three years straight. This is because I was going to college during the fall and spring of each of those years. After I graduated, I decided to go on a truck for a full year, and Crete was my choice. Crete felt like I needed to be on a training truck for a little while before setting out for that year. They didn't know me from Adam, and they didn't know my company.

    3. Training for me lasted 3 weeks, but should have been maybe a week. I already had over 300K miles under my belt. About 120K of these miles were driven in trucks that had 15-speed or 18-speed trannies and no governors.

Crete doesn't offer training to anyone, you are responsible for obtaining your own training, however Crete will point you in the direction of an approved school. Crete requires students to attend a PTDI (Professional Truck Driver Institute) certified school or a school with similar training guidelines if that school is approved by Crete prior to attending it. Call a recruiter if you have a particular school in mind that is not PTDI certified to find out if it qualifies.

Okay. Let me ask somebody else here, then.....

Ever-Tee, I see you have only a few posts here, so you don't know me from Adam. I understand why you'd give me that advice, and I know you mean well. However.......A word to the wise--never just assume a poster here is a naive idiot, especially when you're new in town. Let him prove it first, and then you can make your assumption. I already know all this.

Gee, I never knew I could call a recruiter and get information. You mean those guys have phones and phone numbers? It's a good thing you set me straight.

Anyway.....back to earth. Does anyone know if Crete still offers the deal in Lincoln at the community college? When I worked there, I know they offered it. Do they still? I heard they were disbanding that program after the Florida wreck. Hopefully, it's still offered.

    Alright TIP,

First of all, I would never make the assumption that you are and idiot, however I have noticed that you are a very active poster on this board and have no problem jumping into almost every tread I have come across.

Remember, it is better to be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt. Silence is golden. Less is better. Go away, you annoy me. Things like that.

Amazingly enough, after reading a number of your pointless posts I have already learned to quickly skip all the mindless ramblings that are authored by the apparently infamous TIP.

Again, idiot didn't come to mind. Self absorbed, arrogant, useless, babbling, post #####, etc....

    Perhaps!

What amuses me is that I quickly came to this conclusion and was quit content to keep my opinion to myself. After all, I'm sure most who read your post have already come to a similar conclusion and certainly don't need me to point it out. Imagine my chagrin when I returned to this thread and read the snide little remarks you felt were so necessary. The annoying little man feels the need to author an unsolicited jab. How can I now resist a well deserved retort.

It would appear that not only are you unaware of the usefulness of a phone, you are also unable to read, or at the very least, incapable of comprehending the words that flow through and out of your troubled mind.

If you don't want to hear the answerer, then don't ask the question. Again, Crete does NOT offer any kind of schooling, never have(you are mistaken). They offer no "Deals" at any Community College, nor do they offer any financial aid.

They will tell you what schools they hire students from if you CALL them.

Now, please annoy me no more or I shall be forced to taunt you.

Here we go again. A poster who thinks personal attacks will get him somewhere. I'm an annoying little man, eh? Glad to hear it. I will annoy those who annoy me. Now...relax and move on, as pitiful personal attacks just bounce right off. I even like making enemies on these sites. Keeps the sites from becoming boring electronic versions of "Cheers".

I worked at Crete once, so I do know a little about that company, if I have your permission to say that. I do know Crete offered a program in partnership with a community college in Lincoln once. I don't know if they still do.

    Does anyone out there know?

Very well said. You are not alone on your opinion. You do seem to skip over Tips post, because whatever the the subject is he always changes it to something about Swift and it turns out to be useless babble.
