USA Driver Load and Unload?

I'm Curious as to which companies have policies of Drivers not unloading or touching freight. I hear KLLM drivers don't load / unload any freight. If the shipper/ reciever doesn't, a lumper does. I hear from several drivers on this forum about having to hump freight after they've driven all night, etc. Understand, I'm not a lazy person, but humping somebody's load out of a trailer just doesn't fit into the scope of what I want to do. Any comments, experiences with certain companies. THANKS

If I was going to be a wagon driver with no other exercise I would want to hump my own freight just to get some exercise. Flat bedding doesn't provide a lot but it is some.

Well, all I can say is it happens. I had a load from Napoleon,OH (campbell's) to Twinsburg,OH (some rinky- foodservice distributor) and even though Covenant reimbursed for lumpers (and Campbell's prepays for lumpers) there were no lumpers available. So what were my options? Instead of ########, I got in the trailer and lumped the crap (even though I was tired and needed to be sleeping, having worked all the previous day). Yes it sucked, but it was one of only two times I had to touch any freight in my 13 months there, so I really could care less.

Most large OTR cos. don't want you touching freight anyways, so I wouldn't worry about it.
