Go use that motel room the right way;) I got my truck back today and got a load for Friday delivery in the Philly area. I will likely be taking my truck to one of our shops next week so they can now fix what the other shop broke on it this time. It's funny how a shop can tell you that you have 2 blown head gaskets and on oil leak and I haven't had to add oil in 6 months. I feel bad that our company actually has to pay these guys for a full service when they didn't service the trailer and broke as much stuff as they fixed from my write up list. Have a great turkey day and take care. I will be in Baltimore Friday. If Dh is there I will have to introduce myself.

He won't be at the terminal on Friday, he'll be delivering down around DC. But he will be staying in Baltimore probably thru the weekend, since his time runs out on Friday. Hopefully he'll be able to somehow load up on Sunday when he is able to get back 'on the clock'...but I understand there's no one there to 'assist' him with loading(Spvsr, that new driver stuff)...and that will suck if he has to lose a whole day because he can't load.

If you somehow catch up with a kinda cute middle aged guy driving truck 2113, go give him trouble. :biggrin_25525: He's a great guy...he is going to keep his eye open for you too...I told him you had I 'have a relationship' now. :biggrin_2559:

Oh...(sorry!) Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours too! As well as everyone following our thread! ;)

If he can get in there Saturday, he can get loaded and then take his 34 off. If not, there should still be a supervisor at Curtis Bay on Sunday. I think either Will or Patrick works Sunday there. I will likely be loading in Jersey Saturday so I won't be down there to help out. Have a great day.

I lived in the philly area and i am planning to go with precision in about march. I am going on as a regional driver. The question i want to ask does regional driver makes good money. I talked with a recuiter and they say that regional drivers are home on the weekend, i ask what about every other nights and he said just the weekend, is that true. I read posts and some driver said that they are home almost every nite or every othe nite. what my first year will be looking like? i know that the work is hard but that is no problem with me.

I live right across the bridge from you in South Jersey. I usually am out about 2-3 nights per week and I will gross close to $90,000 this year. I started with PMTG in September 2006. I run mainly from the DC area to New England. I will get a load from Baltimore to the New York area then run off a local up there then usually get a load south and get past the house. Living where we are, we can get home more than anybody and make more money than road drivers with the company. We do more work but early on you will learn much quicker than road drivers in your training class. Recruiting is covering themselves by telling you just getting home on the weekend. I have found that it is a good company to work for with plenty of opportunities to make really good money.

I'm thinking we need to relocate out east. :biggrin_25514:

My dh went with PMTG because of the pay. Don't know what he's on track to make, but it better be good because we're looking at 3 weeks on Wednesday this week that he'll be gone this trip. We did get to see him for a few hours last week on his way through...and I was able to hand off his new glasses on the side of the road after his final delivery!

He's done his 2nd 34 (or is it 36?) yesterday, so I guess we'll see him early next week for a few days. He's decided that it's a better money-maker to be out 3 weeks, home 3 days. Too many 'home time interruptions' when you're OTR means less $$(as you all already know), so we've agreed it's better for him to keep rolling with a schedule like that...I believe his dispatcher is glad to hear that, but our kids sure aren't! :biggrin_25525: Unfortunately, we live on the outskirts of the primary delivery area, so time at home means he loses a few days on top of his home time.

But all is going well so far (knock on wood)...his old truck is holding together so far with lots of little constant 'fixes'(good thing dh is handy)...he's a fast learner so he's getting much more comfortable with the whole deal while still being VERY aware that there's always something new to learn. ;)

He's headed back to Greer today...don't know where he's headed from there. Hopefully not Pittsburgh or NJ:biggrin_25526:...he is kinda nervous about those areas from the horror stories he's been told...but I told him it'd probably be better if they sent him straight in to the wolves so he can get the experience under his belt. (as I always tell him...better him than me!)

Oh...and get this... last night our 11 year old daughter told me she wants to be a truck driver when she grows up. :biggrin_25520: I think she was half delerious from sleep, because she HATES HATES HATES Dad being gone so much. I told her fine, AFTER she's through with and graduates from college.

Good thing Dh is handy. A couple of hand tools and a roll of duck tape can keep you rolling in those trucks. Running up here in the east isn't all that bad. I did get rear-ended this morning and never felt it! I got to the dealer and found my tail cone all cracked up and the back car had a ding in the bumper. I'm guessing the car that hit me didn't have insurance and didn't want me to have to call the cops to get a police report so they acted like nothing happened. I said screw it and got a load past the house for tomorrow. I could have delivered it today and eliminated out of route miles but with all of the paperwork and phone calls associated with the accident, I was running too late to get the first of the 2 stops off. Oh well, hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

Oh that sucks...but I can definitely see you not feeling it in one of those big ol' parking garages! LOL!!! Still trying to get over how big those things are!

30 miles out of Greer last night all the lights went out on the truck...he had to turn around and head back to the terminal, but luckily it happened then and not in another 30, because he'd have been in the mountains in TN...would NOT have been good!!!

He's got one stop in IL...then headed home to drop 3 more. Hopefully he'll get in early enough for us to spend a few hours with him before he has to head back to motel and do his mounds of paperwork. The timing was right for him to possibly be done by early afternoon on Wed, until he had to turn around, and we were all excited because the kids get out at noon that day. (we should know better than to *plan* on something) Then he'll head back out I guess for a few more trips before he can come home and relax for a few days. Today marks 19 days out....but who's counting? :biggrin_25525: He just got a bluetooth...so now I can actually call him w/o worrying that he's driving that big ol thing one handed! (yeah, I admit I worry alot about safety)

He told me last night that he has alot of respect for you NJ/NY regionals...the thought of going into Manhattan gives him the heebie jeebies!
