We can all rant and rave,if OOIDA AND ATA can't change things we won't be able to either. It is a double edge sword,I truly think that our big companies in the U.S. are behind all of this,in the end the big companies,Jb swift werner and sneider will all have businesss'in mexico, probably already backing up them under a different name,in the end the big companies survive and the unions get busted, broke, and the owner operators continue to run outlaw because they can't afford to run legal, which is a shame,we should all be able to survive together, but, folks don't seem to care,it's all about the almighty dollar.I also believe that someday america will own cuba, mexico and maybe canada. It is looking that way even more lately. Time will tell,we will survive, but,i am glad to work where I do and not have to worry about keeping my own truck up and running anymore.I listened to some loggers in maine the other day that are owner operators for a small company, only making 50.00 a day now after the fuel and expenses, can't afford to quit or stay, pretty sad situation, their company can't put a surcharge in as they are too small and would price themselves out of business. In the next 2 weeks the Gov.of maine promised maine truckers some kind of relief, hope it helps them all.

Not my boat....

"those poor mexicans are brought here by both the government and the corporations

those poor mexicans are just like you and me, trying to provide a decent life for their family

if you want to aim, aim at the culprit, not the poor slob in the same boat as you and i"

Sorry, I have to disagree with this one....while I'm in my boat, I don't commit identity fraud and I don't apply for benefits that I don't deserve. It's one thing to look honestly at their situation, but it doesn't excuse the "take it at all cost" mentality that is pervasive. I live 20 miles from the US/Mex border, so trust me, I see it all.

The way I see it the only way to make change is to change ourselves. Every driver needs to get back to the way the drivers were treated years ago as "Knights of the Road". When you get the public behind you saying that truck drivers are the safest drivers out there then you'll beat the drivers that lack the knowledge to be safe.

Then you'll be in demand.

Sorry comrade, but if the oil is on my land, I own it and the government does not. If you want it, buy it from me. Private education seems to do a whole lot better job than public, ditto for health care. You really want the government to have control over electricity? Does not sound very freedom loving to me.
So, that argument is a bunch of bunk.

What are the good parts of communism? socialism? I'd love to hear your answer. I need another laugh.
I guess we are done here since I've gotten no reply

Foget about GNP....that's old news that's manipulated BIG TIME.

Its about Growth! We are not growing....third world nations are....THAT'S THE FACTS.

One of the reasons we have such a HUGE prison population is because of the loss of opportunity in this Country. BTW...are you including the annual trillion dollar a year prison industry in your GNP statistics? I'm sure you know that their are REIT that build and contract with the US government to build and manage prisions. (this is a disgrace and crying shame...)

Are you proud of the fact that a hugh part of our GNP is government work...and prison system?

Here are the facts.

China is the number one country for GNP growth....a stunning 10 percent plus....with over 2 billion people...and the largest banking systme in the WORLD...please give us a break....this is all documented. Save the Trillion dollar economy concept.

China has slave labor...and average citizen of China, is a prolitariat. They are happy to have a roof over their heads and a bowl of rice to eat....THAT'S IT. They care more about their children having an education...and a roof over their heads.

The next generation of young people of China will "distroy the americans" in math and science skills. They are the new leaders of the world economy. Not the Americans.....Sorry (sigh).

The Chinese work their ##### off...and live in community villages next to the factories they work at. They do not own a home...they don't own cars...and they don't have credit cards. They are litterally slave labor. Their quality of life is nothing to envy. They are enjoying it though....because...it was much better than Totalitarian Dictatorship. They now have a modified version of Socialistic Capitalistic Dictatorship. They own nothing...and the government owns everthing.

Do some homework.

USA
Unfortunately, in a society where congress in LARGELY INFLUENCED BY BIG MONEY...AND LOBBYIST who represent the BIGGEST bucks....its a system that is perverted from the start.

Unless you overall and limit the Lobbying and political campaign contributions from CO's that OWN politicians...it will be the same BS as always. WE ARE being run by Corporations...PERIOD. Its a system run by whores...and pimps. I hate to say it....but its true.

The sooner we face the facts...the sooner we can do something about them.

BTW...the past does not equal the future. Change is inevidable. China manufactors over 80% of the goods scene on the shelves of department stores. China has the Largest banking system in the WORLD. They have the money....we DON'T.

HSBC is financing the debt of the USA BECAUSE, we are the biggest consumers IN THE WORLD. Not because we are the Greatest. Greatest Consumers...yes. Greatest GNP...no.

QUESTION: What will happen to the USA when the ability of its citizens to purchase these goods evaporates? How will wall street banks be able to borrow with justification from foreign banks who finance our non-performing debt?

ANSWER: They won't!

The only thing going for us...is that we are a consumer nation and have a banking system that finances the futures of our families....PERIOD. We don't have cash in the banks...and the average american is one paycheck from foreclosure. I know...its not pretty but its the truth.

FREE TRADE is a "Utopian" concept that doesn't exist. Its been tried before by ALL the empires that ruled the world in the past. Read your history books.

To all other open minded readers....Unless you are willing to Die for your beliefs...and freedoms...you will loose them to the facist-corporate system we live in now. It will happen gradually....not overnight.

"when you put a frog in boiling water...he will jump out. when you put a frog in warm water...and gradually turn the heat up...he will boild to death!....(this is a Fact)~

It's just sad that we don't have work here for Americans and Companies are allowed to out source to keep more of their profit. American car parts, American toys, American clothing. all being out sourced.

Some companies treat American workers like #####.

Imagen: team meeting every morning to be reminded you are the only factory left on American soil. If you don't produce more, and make less mistakes your job will be out source.

Your compition is bigger factory with triple the workers and machines.

1-15min break that is only 12min cause you got to run back to your post.

1-30min break that is only 27min

2 verbal warnings on 3rd you are out.

That's fair.

By what ever measure you want to use, our economy is 3 times as large as #2, which is Japan.

We are growing at 2 to 3%, that's not much, but it is growth. So when you said, "We are not growing" you were wrong.

Loss of opportunity? How many people went to prison during the Depression of the 30's? Don't blame all societies woes on the economy. A bad economy does not force you do drugs, or stick a knife in your neighbor.

If it keeps them away from me and my family, let them rot.

Yes China is growing. It's about time. Exactly where is it documented that China has the largest banking system in the world? I'd love a link.

So you want to be slave labor? I don't, and I'm not.

Is that why so many American kids are going to college in Beijing? Or is it that the Chinese know where the best schools are and are coming here?

Again, do you want to live in a company owned shanty?

So you would now put a limit on free speech? That's what preventing me from lobbying my point of view is doing.

Now I know for a fact you don't have a clue. Do you know what HSBC stands for? Hong Kong Shanghai Bank Corporation. What was Hong Kong prior to 1999? A British colony. Where are the world headquarters of HSBC? Beijing? no, try London. How many offices does HSBC have in China today? 83, guess how many they have in the U.S.? how about 1905. I guess we don't have any money here. Or those 83 Chinese branches each have 1000 people working at them.

Does everyone in this country plan on retiring at the same time? That's the only way your question makes any sense.

I'm too tired to continue to debunk your nonsense, you have proven you don't have your facts straight.

Ronno,

I appreciate your comments.

What do you we suggest we do regarding the Texas Corridor?

Do you think it will be advantageous to the American Trucker?

Thanks for your input.

PS. Sorry for the negative...reading alot of bad crap lately.

95% of the government needs to be shot. End of story. This country is starting to make me sick. What happened to the government? Everyone used to put faith into them and fellow man could trust our government and no one cant stand them now??? Seems like every politican now is a lieing thieves and it seems like everyone turns their head and doesnt think a thing of it like it has become acceptable in todays world ??? How much of this are we going to take?? We pay taxes we pay for all this crap but nothing is helping us? We are paying wages for these corrupt politicians when are we gonna say enough is enough??? One man cant make a change but if we all man up with a common voice we can make a change ! Why is oil so costly? We listen to these excuses after excuses its highway robbery and again our beloved government wont step in and make some kind of change. Why?? I believe they get some kind of kick back of revenue off it. My opinion. Well its time for a reform in my opinion !!!

About the mexicans. Cant really blame the mexicans for wanting something better in life right? Not really their fault. But I believe if they want a better life and wanna make a change make the change in their country and better themselves and there country. If I was in their shoes I would come over here to. Why not? Doors open why not take advantage?? Also if they are planning on staying. Make them legal and make them pay taxes ! If they wanna be accepted let them go to Iraq and fight for this country. Put up a wall boot them out one by one and let 40K in a year starting with the educated and specialized skill 1st. And make them pay taxes.

One of these days American will have enough of this and someone will start up a small milita and take over heh.
