My posts were in reference to the comments below. I have no need to boost my thread count, I just can't stand assuming people like you who think everyone does drugs and is like you (that is what your post INFERS).

Quote:
the employment opportunities are really endless;......actor/actress, pro-baseball/football/basketball/tennis/hockey/[u-name it],teacher[yes, your kids too!!!], lawyer, doctor, dentist, nurse, PILOT[-yeah, even the one that took your wife/husband/kids/brother/sister/ to Atlanta], Millitary;...yes your Vietnam buddy, accountant, YOUR business partner, Your wifes Gynecologist, veterinarian....yes, Fluffy's..., local politician,...Marion Barry... [I think was his name??] was, D.C.'S Mayor????, Rock/Rap/Classical{yeah...MOZART]/Country[Kieth Urban....NOOOOO!!!!!! u know ....he is married to Nicole Kidman..."how could she marry SUCH a 'loser'?", President of________ [insert your own choice], or even.... YES....even the guy/gal who might happen to DELIVER 8000 gallons of highly flammable fuel, right along side of your sons/daughters school bus. Just a LITTLE sarcasm for ALL of the sardonic posts that have been, and surely some more to come. Do not get too FULL of yourselves, as I'LL BET that there is NOT a perfect person in the bunch

I have to say I feel for you man

You refered to the DUI post, many drivers have experience with this subject
You charting new territory with your question, and may not get any answerers that put you in the right direction

Its amazing how unforgiving people can be

I guess the only way to prove your self is time
Good luck

exactly...

Chef,
I don't think you're going to be happy with any answer until someone posts exactly the words you want to hear. Odds are against that.

You admit you were in the wrong yet continue down a path of trying to get around the consequences. You say you're not a recreational drug user yet you're in this predicament due to recreational drug use.

I don't want you sharing the road with me especially if you're moving 80,000 lbs. I don't trust your judgment and decision-making skills. A night of fun with alcohol, a woman, and drugs aren't good enough reasons to trash a career and throw your dreams down the toilet.

But that's exactly what you did. You said you are looking for a way to prove that you're worthy of this career. You could have proven your worthiness by not using illegal drugs. Why should any company give you a second chance when you abused the first one?

well don't give up hope--yeah you screwed up but thats beside the point. yes your failing the drug test IS reportable, required in any pre-employment reports. with the BIG companies(note BIG companies).there are outfits who will hire you now that you have completed the Substance Abuse Program. completing that program may be your salvation--had you not gone through with it you would DEFINITELY be S.O.L.

Myminpins....... AGAIN.... this is N-O-T what I was implying ["everybody does drugs like me"] . I am implying, in a previously SELF ADMITTED, sardonic way, ALOT of people, in many different professions, other than "truck driving", have made the same mistake that I HAVE and have gone on in their profession and either became or remained very sucessful. That was my implications, in a SARCASTIC manner. Did it "hit" too close to "home"........That was MY point, and apparently it worked on you....Though I am ASSUMING this. How is that for "idiotic"????...... Not even close....uh? Have a good one!!!!

You might find an owner operator to drive for.

ChefLRD, while, like everyone else, I don't condone drug use obviously. But, I think you are going down a good path to try and make right what you did wrong. From what you have posted I think you FULLY understand the implications of what you did. Most that would have been in your situation would have just said "Oh well." not got any help and not tried to set things right. Everyone here seems to look passed the fact that you are trying to make right what you did (counseling drug tests and such) and are focusing on the fact that you did wrong. That's too bad. "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." I'm sorry that I can't halp you more with the where to find a job and such but I wish you luck. I think your situation is a great lesson for new drivers who might give in to temptation.

any negative can be turned into a positive. Talk to your sap guy and see if you could talk to at risk groups and give your story and what happened because of one bad judgement call. You never know what kind of seed your story may plant and prevent someone elses bad judgement call. The main thing is learn, dont give up, and make a difference!
