| Looking to start trucking....need advice I am wondering if anybody can give me some advice. I have a felony conviction for failure to support which I served no time for but did probation. In Wisconsin where I live once convicted your record can never be expunged. So I am applying for a pardon. I have checked into several trucking schools and was told that I was not eligible because of this. Is this true. Will I not be able to get a trucking job at all? |

| Wow... a felony for that?! Good luck getting that off of your record. If you tell some companies what it's for, they might consider. |

| Yes, that actually is a felony, atleast in the state of WI. I didn't do any time...just probation....but it really causes a problem in cases like this... |

| Believe me, you can get a trucking job w/THAT felony. Only problem is getting a chance to tell the employer what your felony is before he writes you off. Hell I went to school w/a guy that had a felony conviction and he got a job at Western Express. Now this was a few years back, and I personally wouldn't go anywhere near Western, but if you have some assinine felony (and yours is) you'll find a job. You may not get your first job choice, though. EDIT****** Let me just say that it is extremely stupid to make that crime a felony, so that it is even more difficult to get a decent job to pay for support! Wow that is short-sighted and very stupid. Last edited by MXH; 11.29.2007 at 05.42 PM. Reason: additional comment |

| At this point I am just trying to find a truck driving school that will accept me. If I can get the license and training I can just keep looking until I find something. |

| Ametha1 That is insane that that is a felony! GEEZ, well here they take away your drivers lisance if you get behind, kind of defeats the purpose if you are paying them and getting caught up . I had a neighbor who was arrested for not paying while he was on a long term disability, he had to just sit in jail for a few weeks because he had no money, that really was stupid. Like that was going to get him to be able to pay somehow? It only costs tax payers money to do that. I know that people have to pay, but we all fall on to hard times, as long as someone is trying that should count for something. If you cant get into one of the bigger schools, there may be a company sponsored training program that you can get into. I know that its not the best thing because then you will be under contract with that company for a while, but it might work for you. I do wish you the best of luck, and I really think that since its such a stupid charge that you should be able to get something. Keep us posted if you find anything.

| One of the reasons its a felony is the city district attorney can tout his conviction record to get re-elected and get a higher salary for working soooo hard!!! /sarcasm Quote:

| This sounds like Milwaukee corruption I am currently attending Roehl's RDTC in Marshfield, WI. What a nice area of the country this is. And as nice a people as you will find in America's mid-west. This place is laid back, honest and decent. What you are talking about is not a part of what I am experiencing here in Wisconsin. Marshfield is a small town in the middle of middle America. Milwaukee obviously suffers from the difficulties of most densely populated areas. Sorry to hear. It's better out here. Sorry for the problems you are encountering. respects, Dennis in se pa |
