| Ex Pat Drivers Thinking of moving over to the USA or Canada. Are there any British or other foreign nationals who have made the move who could advise me? What are the pitfalls? Do's and don'ts. There are companies out there that do the leg work for you and all the legal stuff too, but are they value for money? Is there really a huge shortage of drivers over the pond? How does Company sponsor ship work and how 'safe' is the job offer if it comes? So many questions but hopefully some one can help me out. |

| There's a huge shortage of drivers in Canada right now. I found a site the other day about all you need to do to come over here and work as a trucker but darned if I can find it again. There were a few people from Germany and Denmark working at the last place we worked. If I find the site again, I'll pass the info along. From what I hear, there's a lot more demand for drivers in Canada than in USA and we are treated better for the most part but that's just MHO. Some info for you: [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. | Two threads that you might want to look at (they don't contain a lot of information for you, but it is an example): [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. There are lots of driving jobs here (in Canada), and there are definitely plenty of companies that are more than happy to hire foreign workers. Sounds to me like Human Resources Canada can be a little bit of annoyance when trying to get a job. But there are jobs. Lots of them. |

| Thanks for the info I will ve a look at that little lot. I had a feeling Canada had a shortage of drivers as I approached a company for info and got offered a job lol. But there is a bit more to it than just upping sticks and getting on a plane......oh if only. ![]() I have heard some horror stories about making the move but for the most part every one who has gone across loves working there. Well looks like I got some home work to do thanks again and any info is really appreciated. |
