USA Leaving Navy...Help

HEY EVERYONE,

I 'VE BEEN READING QUITE A FEW POST ON HERE THE LAST MONTH TO HELP ME FIGURE OUT IF I WANTED TO BE AN OTR DRIVER. WELL I AM LEAVING THE NAVY THIS MONTH SIMPLY BECAUSE I'M SICK OF BEING OUT OF THE COUNTRY EVERY YEAR FOR MONTHS ON END. WELL ME AND A BUDDY WANT TO DRIVE TEAMS FOR ANYONE EXCEPT SWIFT, BUT HE HAD A DUI IN AUGUST 2005. ARE THERE ANY COMPANIES THAT WOULD BE WILLING TO ACCEPT US ? I WOULD PREFER TMC BUT AT THIS JUNCTURE IT REALLY DOESNT MATTER. JUST WANNA TRY SOMETHING NEW. AFTER DEALING WITH THE MILITARY WE FIGURE IT SHOULD BE A QUITE EASIER JOB WITH NO ####### IN YOUR FACE ALL DAY. ANY ADVICE OR SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

A lot would depend...

On if you're staying in Washington state or moving somewhere else to get started.

Go to a truckstop and find the rack of little giveaway trucking magazines.

Pick up as many as you can. Do good solid research. This site has a world of good info on good companies and bad.

Then...find a company and go for it. Remember that team driving isn't for everybody. It's just the deal of being close all the time with a team partner.

I was Navy so I understand that shipboard life IS close...but a big truck is CLOSER than that. It takes a special chemistry to team drive with ANYBODY.

I'll give you a for instance...I can count on one hand without using up all the fingers...the people I feel truly safe sleeping behind in a big truck. Trust isn't the only issue at hand here though. That said...one of these is my son...I absolutely CAN'T run team with my son. I've tried...we used to work for the same company as single drivers. The boss teamed us up for one run...we almost killed each other in three days. It wasn't his driving, he's a very safe driver...I trust him with my life and vice versa. He just has his way and I have mine when it comes to trucking. It's hard to explain, but it's just gotta work between two people for it to work as a team.
