Nebraska Smells

Has anyone else noticed that several areas of Nebraska on I-80 smell like Urine. I thought it was our truck, but we only really smell it in Nebraska LOL.

I've noticed that with Chicago for a few decades now.

Drive across Northwest Iowa sometime, it's the worst smelling area that I know of. You are probably smelling livestock ammonia and that would explain the 'urine' smell.

I just can't get past the smell threads. Some of the chicken farms I visit are definitely not for the squeamish. The stench in the winter gets your notice, in the summer I try to park upwind, which is not always possible. As far as living around it, I used to milk a herd of cows, you do get used to it, sort-of, but livestock odor is spending lots of time in courtrooms as a defendant in lawsuits. I find it a poetic justice that the courts would have to regard the odor of manure as part of their business of gumming up the works of this country.

There are tons of huge feedlots along I80 in Nebraska. I remember when I was a kid, I'd plug my nose as we were rolling along the interstate and have some comment, and my dad would say "Thats the smell of Money!"
