| Why Can't I get back into the industry? I live in Chicago. I started out with CR England driving school in Nov. 2004. I went through training, got my CDL in Dec. 2004. I didn't particularly like the company, so I resigned after Christmas 2004. I decided to join Roehl transport in Feb. 2005. I liked the company, and joined on as a driver. While driving for Roehl, the following things happened. 1) I recieved a speeding ticket while driving an automobile (off duty) in May 2005. 2) While driving the truck in NYC I recieved a ticket for disobeying a traffic device in aug 2005( almost went under a tunnel too low) 3)License was suspended in Chicago for unpaid parking tickets while I was on the road in Sept. 2005.(I stopped at a weigh station and found out, recieved a ticket for driving while suspended and was also overweight on one axle.) I was terminated by Roehl because I didn't get the suspension off in the recommended time. I finally paid my parking tickets and the state took the suspension off in Feb. 2006. I had a court date for thedriving while susp. charge that was 400 miles away from home that I missed. A warrant was issued, and I wasn't able to take care of it until Sept. 2007. NOW, I haven't driven since that day in Oct. 2005, and cant seem to get into any driving jobs anywhere. The trucking companies I applied to won't tell me ANYTHING. I haven't worked since the last day Roehl, and am finding it hard to find a job anywhere. I have been in school training as an Electrician for the past 10 months though ( I'll be finished in 2 months.) I know I ##$% up, but what can I do to get myself back in the business? Any suggestions?p.s. It has been over 2 years ago |

| Once it's been three to five years and your record is completely clean the entire time, try again. In the meantime, do what you can to stay gainfully employed, keep your CDL up to date and keep trying everywhere, especially small local companies who may not be so fussy about checking everything. |

| Tha majority of companies have to answer to their insurance carriers, and a suspended license is a major issue with them. Since your license was suspended, and you were driving on it, whether you knew about it or not, selling yourself to a company is a hard deal to close on. Time heals all things, and it may take longer to get back into trucking. The time frames seem to add a little bit of fuel to the fire as well. You say that you received the ticket for driving on a suspended license in Sep 2005, but the issue wasn't resolved until Sep 2007, and then only after a warrent was issued for you. Those things add up to a timeline on your record that would probably strike fear into the heart of any recruiter you apply to. In terms of record keeping for a commercial license, 2 years is a very small amount of time. They look at your record going back much further than that, and from your description, your record is not as clean as it needs to be. Keep trying, but you are facing somewhat of an uphill battle. When you have a commercial license, you have to take care of things immediately. You cannot afford to wait and hope that the computer doesn't notice you, or allow a ticket to go unpaid. A commercial driver is held to a higher standard than the average driver is, and that higher standard has caught up with you. |

| habitual companies are going to view you as a habitual traffic offender... you need to clear all this stuff on your record out - and be more careful with your buisness. probably take a few years (3 to 5 in most states) go to your local license branch and ask for a driver report on yourself (5 bucks here - dunno there) it will list what THEY will see when they run your dl#
