Preventable Accident

Will someone please tell me how a "preventable accident" is defined.

it can be a broad definition, defined by the company.

im going to try and answer this the best way i can...

a preventable accident is an accident that you could have prevented like...

Following a car to close and ramming the rear of it...
Turning and hitting a vehicle...
Changing lanes and running into a vehicle...

you get the idea, something that could have been prevented by you paying attention

That's pretty much what I figured. However, I have learned that the rear end, preventable accident can be a deal breaker with someone wanting to get into the industry. Back in June, I "tapped" a person from the rear. There was very, very little damage and no injuries. It was a brand new car so understandably she wanted to report the matter. So, when a company says "no more than two preventable accident in three years" they leave out their position on rear enders.

I posted earlier this week regarding this accident. I was ticketed in this matter for "unsafe driving". It was the least charge the officer could issue. Not nearly as bad as reckless or dangerous driving. I was placed on probation. There is no record of this incident on my MVR. I have had several notices from the state of Arkansas that my record has been queried. This incident does not show up.

My question is, should I even bring it up? I otherwise have a clean driving record. Is there any other way a company could find out about this other than it being part of my driving record?

Thanks

I don't know here, this may not be the best advice in the world. But if you deliberately leave out pertinent info on your job app, and the company ever does find out about it, they will probably fire you right then and there.

Others may disagree with me, but IMHO tell it like it went down, and live with the consequences.

And I wish you the best of luck.
