I read somewhere on this site that Crete company drivers will be required to also pull reefers starting this year. Has anyone heard? I've been told to report 8 Jan 08 for medical & drug test.

I have friends that drive for Crete.
They did mention that they might have to pull Refers occasionally.

This should not be a problem. Don't worry or be too concerned about it.
It isn't hard to do. If that should happen, they will tell you how to set the temperature on the refer unit. (Then you just drive.)

Because of logistic reasons, they are trying to make better use of equipment that is in whatever area you are in.
You can't blame them, with the cost of fuel, road use and fuel taxes.
Better to use whatever truck is in the area, rather than have a different truck run empty, maybe 100 or 250 miles to hook onto the load in question. Then turn right around and send you 150 miles, or so, to pick up a different load.

Crete (Acklie Corp.) has Dry Van, Refer, and Flatbed Divisions. (probably will never ask you to pull a flatbed though, unless you sign on to do so.)
But for the most part, you'll mainly pull for whatever division you hire on with.
I have friends that have driven in the dry van division for years and years, that have NEVER pulled a refer yet.

Crete has an excellent training program too.
After you go through their orientation, you'll go out on the road with a seasoned Trainer for 8 weeks.
Their Trainers have lots of experience, go through extensive qualifications to teach, and will give you great "hands on" training. (The best kind.)
When you leave your Trainer, you will be confident in your abilities.
