My Journey

Hey guys and gals. My name is John and i thought i would do a thread like daytona45 and go though my story of my journey to become a truck driver. I have 2 years of experience on my profile because i do. I was a vehicle operator is the Air Force for 4 years. I was trained to drive nearly everything driveable including rigs. I have tens of thousands of miles in the US and in Iraq ad Kuwait (Running convoys). All of that counts for nothing in the eyes of trucking companys so i have to start like a newbie again. I have been talking with Schneider and have a phone interview tomorrow. I am also going to call TDI and talk to them as i can use my VA benefits to goto the school. I live in Miami, FL right now but live near St. Louis on the IL side at times. So that is where i am at right now. Any thoughts or advice would be great. I have heard so many horror stories of truck driving, i hope i manage to get with a decent company.

You might want to check your local community colleges they are much cheaper, and there are grants usually available to pay for it, and then
you won't be stuck signing a contract for a year or longer with one of cdl mill companys.

No community colleges around here have it. Only that TDI place. My update is that I talked to the Schneider recruiter and told them that im going to a different school. She told me no problem just call her a week before i graduate. But i'll see what companys have to say at the school as well.
