Dot Physical

Can I, on my own, go to my own Doctor and get a DOT Physical before going to work for a Trucking Co?

Yes. I went and got a DOT physical on my own. I actually had to before I could start school, they required it. But some companies still have you do their physical too. Just depends on the company.

question about breathing

I had a quick question about breathing and the physical. I have to take the DOT before school starts on the 28th, am scheduled for that and the drug screen next wednesday. I have very light emphezema according to my doctor and smoke. I am trying desperately to cut back on smoking and eventually quit for obvious reasons, but will there be any part in the physical where breathing is tested? I have that morning smokers cough and my physical is at 8:30 in the morning. Going to go down to the track to get the lungs pumping before I go...LOL!! But do they test breathing extensively? What to expect?

simple

to go to a private school, which i highly recommend you have to get the physical yourself. For both might run you $120. the only breathing they check is just like a normal physical. the scope on the chest and back. No big deal. Good luck

The next thing they'll think of is some kind of mental toughness stress test, administered by a psyco-analysis head shrink, to see if we have the right mindset to deal with all BS out there these days.

I should not have posted this, as some dip#### sitting in Washington DC is probably reading this, thinking "hey, that could work"
