Old speeding Ticket from 2005 just payed

Hey drivers,
Just getting into trucking and was wondering if a speeding ticket from 2005 that just got payed is going to be a problem with trucking companies!
It was in florida and i live in georgia with georgia license that never got suspended. Talked to florida they said driving privilege in florida was suspended until ticket got payed and stated that they sent georgia a letter to suspend license but georgia never did.
I know that georgia did not because i just got CDL A permit no problems.

First things first! You must make sure your driving privilege is reinstated in the State of Florida! You don't want to be rolling through a DOT checkpoint and they say, "Driver you wanna step out of your truck and have a talk with me"? Next thing you know your sitting in the back of a cruiser watching your truck and cargo get towed!(Yeah, your fired)

Second, on your speeding ticket, how many miles over the limit were you driving? Most companies wont look at you if your ticket was more then 15 mph over the speed limit! Some of them allow 20 mph over. Are then any other violations on your MVR? How about accidents?

If you have a clean MVR beside this speeding ticket; and your ticket is under 15 mph the limit; you have proof that you took care of this ticket; your driving privilege has been reinstated in the State of Florida; you should have no difficulty finding a good carrier. Although, some companies may frown on the suspension. There are still many companies that will give you an opportunity!

If your ticket is between 15-21 mph over its going to be a little tighter but you still can get in!

If your ticket is over 21 mph over then speed limit; get ready to do some mean research baby! It is going to be difficult for you to get a carrier to give you an opportunity. Your best bet is wait until three years pass. You said it was in 2005, if you went 21 mph over, I hope you got it in February 2005!

Yeah, you'll be truckin!Get proof of reinstatement! I wouldn't volunteer that information. Only bring it up if you are asked about it. You said nothing else in 7 years. How about 10? Some companies may want to know, be prepared.
I am 100% positive good companies like Roehl, Watkins and Shepard, Marten, Crete, and KLLM will give you a shot with 16 mph over. I know because I worked for Watkins Shepard and KLLM. I got accepted by the rest but got hired running with a local outfit. My speeding ticket was in that 15-20 mph bracket from July 2005. Yeah dog you'll be truckin!

This thread is also a relief for me as I your situation is very similar to mine. I lived in Vegas for a short while in 2004 and got a ticket for going through a light that had just changed from yellow to red. I moved back to NY and got my license back here and truthfully, it kind of faded from my mind. I found that I my license was suspended in Nevada. I paid the ticket over the phone on Friday and they should be lifting my suspension sometime tomorrow (Wednesday) or Thursday the latest.

My recruiter told me he is not going to send in my Nevada license number until the suspension is lifted.

Now even though the suspension was just lifted, he said what will probably save me is the fact that I had a valid NY State license all the while.

Still, he said it may cause me a problem. That 'may' makes me worry, but I am just going to have faith. I am 36 years old and I want a change - I really really really want to drive rigs cross country. Some of my friends think I am crazy, but I am single, and i just want to see America and make some money while doing it. I drove a cab for 14 years and it's time to move on. I quit 3 weeks ago and I am ready to dive into this.

Billy
