Training at CFI/Conway - Truckers' Trucking Forum | Message Board

I will be going to CFI/Conway In Joplin,MO for training on Monday 2/11. I will try to give a day by day from there. I am always curious about what goes on with the training deals when I read these posts. Hopefully I could shed some light for other newbies. I have my cdl already so the deal is I get there Sunday night they put me up in a holiday inn in Joplin. Monday bus comes 6am to go to orientation then to another hotel for 7-8 days.For these 7-8 days will be 2 days orientation 6 days yard/road coarse training.Then off with a trainer for 7500 miles all me the trainer does not drive just instructs till the last week we drive as a team. Then back to joplin to get my own truck . Im 90% on all that. But I will keep you posted tune in.

im interested in how the CFI to Conway change over is going, the other day at work i had a Conway truckload driver check in to pick up a load and when he drove up there he was in a white freightliner columbia pulling a conway trailer......i should of asked him about it but it looked like he was in a hurry did a drop & hook in around 10 minutes

Best Of Luck MIke,keep us posted.I'm going to look into crowder college for the refresher and see if that would get me back in or I'll be heading off to MILLIS on the 3rd of March. I take my road test this thursday and will leave an update for you here. Once again, BOL.

Thanks Big d , Good luck ,to you on the test.
That sucks that you would have to go do more training like that just because of the pups. I let you know as my drama unfolds.

Does CFI still use Central Tech in Ok as well? I see their website has been down a while. I know a couple people that went there, and felt the training was the best in the industry.

Well I made it here finally, I was late do to weather held up in Philly over night .3 hrs sleep before catching two other flights into Joplin .
So I got into Cfi around 1:30 was supposed to be in for 6am. I met my recruter she was hot Cami so ask for her.Shes real nice ,
They sent me off to get my dot done nothing to worry about ,piss test,blood pressure,vision and some funky color blind test,lift 70 pounds once. breath breath breath done. The other guys were in orientation and had already gone to the clinic for dot physicals. When i got back to CFI did some paper work they gave 100 bucks cash for the day then went to a hotel around 7:00pm .The whole gang went to KFC we wont go again. Oh ya there is only 13 of us.Tomarrow 7am bus picks us up to do yard training. I will keep you posted.

Good luck Mikel. If u want good bbq go eat at Whiskey Creek or Red Hot and Blues. The weather sucks right now huh! I'm about 30 minutes from Joplin. Again good luck to you.
