how effective is opti idle?

I think it would be more effective keeping you warm in the winter, you can always stack on a few more blankets.

how good does it keep you cool in the summer time, say you run out of hours in the mojave desert can you sleep when it's going to be 110+ outside?

USA Idle Control

I am not sure how well this works in the truck, but I do know this is the same type of systems used in police K-9 vehicles to keep the K-9 cool or warm during a shift.

When I worked with the police department in SC, I had to ride with the K-9 Sgt during my rookie training, and I do know that the car was always at 65 to 68 degrees, even if it was 105 outside with 98% humidity.... I loved that car...lol

god I hope this works that good in a truck...

I like that line "snipers change history" I'm a war history nut, there have been many times a single sniper has stopped the advancement of a large force with the accuracy of a few bullets.

we Americans have the uncontested sniper king Chuck Mawhinny. more confirmed kills then that 'pesky rusky' vasili.

sorry got a little off topic

I like this line too "don't run you'll just die tired" sniper scouts, gotta love'm

opti idle terrible!

optimize idle was a terrible idea.

The truck starts up and shakes the driver awake and then shuts off again in a few minutes. This is no way to get any kind of restful sleep. I have had it on company trucks and had it deactivated immediately. If the boss refuses to deactivate it then expalin to him/her that your quality of rest is at stake and if he isnt willing to take that into account then you quit effective immediately.

They will deactivate it for you if you stand your ground.

I have user it and have it now. It does take some getting used to though. As the other poster pointed out. When it would start I would wake up, and when it shut off I would wake up. After a while it didn't bother me and I would sleep right through it. Now I don't run it when I am sleeping since I got used to it not running in the summertime. I don't mind the cold weather and so far the lowest I have been in the sleeper is 19 degrees I have more then one sleeping bag. Its only cold when I have to get out of bed and start the truck to warm it up. As for the heating and cooling function they work pretty good.

California --> The land of fruit and nuts law makers.....

I have heard some horror stories about California.......

I guess a Crown vic doesn't wake up a dog when it starts up, so it was good......lol

I guess a refer type Climate control would also be banned in California....

I know USA Truck is running Opti Idle, so I guess I need to get use to it since I start OTR in the next couple of weeks.....
