Poll: Best Starter Company (Training Provided)

For the last 6 months i've been reading this forum.

I'm a new driver still to choose a company to get trained. (already have my cdl a)

I love it, a lot of great information, it's really appreciated what you guys do around here.

But I think this topic will facilitate a lot new driver's life.

Please vote only if you've been through any of these companies training processes.

Crete does not provide training, only training they provide is for those that get out of a community college or cdl program that you, the driver has paid for.

As of this moment I don't have a CDL, but my short term goal is to have one by the middle of March.

From some of the trolling I have done on this and other forums and from reviewing the websites of respective trucking company's, I find Schneider to be very attractive.

Crete does not do driver training unless you have already graduated from an approved school (very short list and PTDI certified). Maverick has training for select folks, but the waiting list is about 4-5 months long.

That being said, my personal choice would be Schneider. There are to many horror stories about Swift and CFI/Conway.

A lot of people have had good things to say about Millis and they have their own school. Interstate also trains or at least they were training. I heard they were having their school audited or something. Watkins Shepard also trains.

Too bad I can't edit the pool right now although two people voted for crete which seems strange if they don't train, but anyways, I've been talking to maverick and they seen to offer a pretty good package for starters, a promising .41cents a mile after 6months and training at no cost (don't ask me how) they say they pay $300/wk first couple of weeks and $500/wk once I'm with the trainee on the road. Hopefully everything will confirm soon.

If not I'll look towards Millis or Wksh, thanks for those, I hadn't heard from them before, but that's what I'm looking into, smaller companies with proficient training.

Does anyone know of a comprehensive list of the biggest trucking companies? I am going to obtain my CDL, and I want to obtain the training as inexpensively as possible.

My thoughts are to visit each of the biggest trucking companies web sites and do some online research.
