Some will want to see a copy of your DD214. I think it is just to verify where you have been for the last however many years.

If you got out in 97 I wouldn't worry about it. I thought you had just gotten out. The biggest reason they would ask for it is to verify employment. You have to be able to account for the last ten years and the company will verfiy atleast the last three. Since it has been over ten I wouldn't worry about it.

Roehl only checked mine because they require an honorable discharge for the Honor Program.

Red face

i spent a week at stevens and told them i had been diagnosed w/ bipolar dissorder and they put me on med hold and began to treat me like a bum. the whole stevens experience was horrible and their school was a joke filled with a bunch of ego maniac hippies that think they are drill instructers.
the big problem there is the instructors have no patience and are bad classroom teachers. for 5000 dollars these instr. need to go to school themselves !!!

Except there might be more. If they ask if you've ever been in the military on the job application and you lie, if they find out you'll be canned. And what about the Hazmat check. I don't know what they check since I retired before that law came into effect but what if they find out?

I don't know what kind of discharged you got but if it's a general then I wouldn't worry about it. I also believe you can have that changed if you apply for it. If it's worse then you'll have to walk on thin ice and be extremely careful how you answer questions on the application. They can not go into your service record and the DD214 is the only paperwork they can check. Good luck and be careful.
