I suggest train with a small company like Hiner, they are a decent group of people and your not a number with them. It's hard to hire on with a small company with under 2-3yrs exp so if you find 1 that offers training, well your in.
Werner is the lowest lieing snakes and the trainers i had(4) were either tempertantrum slobs, drunks, argued on qualcomm or was worried about his girlfriend at home which was his prior student! Then i opted(never again) to helpout a fellow student & brought her on my truck til she could get her own.Well 48hrs later i dropped her in springfield. Her 275hrs of training was apparently(& admittedly)spent in the bunk with her trainer & she didn't even know how to pump fuel or open trailer doors. But worst was her attitude & lack of appreciation for my trying to teach her as my $$ was cut in half!
I have had to learn so much on my own & with the help of some kind oldtimers on the cb radio but i did learn from my booboo's & i work daily on improving my skills & to not leave room for error. I'VE CAME A LONG WAY,BABY!:biggrin_25517:

I checked their website (Hiner) and they require 1 year OTR experience. Do you have new info showing they do training for inexperienced drivers? Thx

What about May and Watkins & Shepard? They both take recent grads.

I haven't started driving yet; because I'm still in school, but I have applied to Maverick, TMC and BTC Flat. All three are flatbed companies. They train you if you have little to no flatbed experience and pay good, with good miles. They get you home most weekends; or at least that's what I was told. Good luck!

Yes Hiner does take recent grads. I drive for Hiner and recently inquired for my son. They also have ads on career connect for recent grads. It's a 6wk training with pay then they start you at .30cpm with no tuition reimbursement but decent starting pay. Hell I trained with werner & got .26cpm start.
I'm getting my nephew and son into the school i went to. There's not much in the workforce with decent income anymore & for 2 young single guys that like to drive & travel, what else is there.

hey teachmebouttruckin, I LUV YOUR QUOTE ABOUT DOGS!My pup named Harley RandMcNally is my soulmate. He is the best friend & partner ever in my life. I have chosen to remain a single lady due to the drama that comes with relationships but my puppy fills my emptiness & never leaves a moment for loneliness. He luvs the big truck but Hiner doesn't permit pets so I chose to come off of OTR & take a (boring) local position home daily. I will post his pic, as he deserves to be recognized for the awesome dude that he is :)

I can't remember what show I was watching, but they had Betty White on it, and I probably was too afraid to admit it until she came out and said it. She said she loves animals more than people. I have to agree. They just love unconditionally and are so loyal.
