Looking for a Job! But need some advice.

Hello everyone. This is my first post. I recently graduated from Drivers School in 02-2008. I'm now trying to find a job. My problem is that for the past 4 years I have been on Social Security Disability. My Dr. says its ok to go back to work and that my meds won't interfere with my ability to drive a big rig. I also have a letter from the Doc stating so. I've applied to many companies and the only invite so far is from US Express. I also have an interest from CR England. I read alot about both these companies and to say the least this forum is not home to their fan clubs. Any suggestions? Going OTR for long periods of time is not a problem and I'd even relocate if that would help. I currently live near Orlando, FL. Just trying to get back into the real world after a bump in the road. Any thoughts would be welcome and appreciated. Thanks for any insight.

P.S. If the driving school recruiter told me that my period of no work would be an issue I would have used my Voc. Rehab. money elsewhere!

You might just have to go with a company that is less that desirable for that first year to get your foot in the door. If two companies want you, you aren't unemployable. Get your experience, then move onto greener pastures when you have a job history and experience.

I agree with "Leenamarie". Even if you had to go out with a trainer for a few weeks it would still be a start. Then after you get a good year or two without incidents or accidents you can go just about anywhere you want. U.S. Express is not a bad place to start, just don't get caught up in one of their "Lease/Purchase deals where you can't make any money and your stuck there until it's finished. I hope this sheds some light on your situation. Good Luck
