idling

I like to park nose in any time i can to avoid refers and idling trucks next to me.This is because during cooler weather i don't like to run the veh. i've woken up and it will be 19 deg.inside.I don't expect everyone to do the same but why run your truck when it's 55 deg outside, during the summer you'd wish to god it was 55 deg.I'm saying 'cause the other night in waco a driver thought i had a good idea and nosed in next to me,sort of defeats my purpose right and he ran his tk.allnight why it was nice outside compared to PA?But it was'nt his idling but the damn air-dryer!Every min.it would go off,i know i timed it.i guess my point is why run your trk alnight when it's not freezing out, hell last fall it would be 64 deg outside and guy's would be running their heat or air can't figure which, why with fuel at 3.70 and up 10 hrs idling is 37.00$.like where i am right now laurel ms its 72 and guys are running there air!1!

Well i can think of several reasons some may idle
1. refrigerator
Although I have a low voltage fridge ($500) some may not have one and will run batteries down fast and food will be ruined..
2.They may be running a TV and other such items and not sleeping..
3. Noise, some people get used to the truck idling and they may not be able to fall asleep.. this used to happen to me so, I bought a fan to help provide a noise I could fall asleep too.

That would be a few reasons.. Although I do understand your point...

I would find myself doing that less in the winter than in the summer. I'd rather be cold in bed than hot.

Noise. Believe it or not, some people (me included) like the noise. You get used to running all the time and for me - the sound of the idling engine was enough to lull me to sleep and keep me that way. I understand your point about it being cool outside - enough so that there doesn't appear to be any reason for it, but temps aren't everything. On the other hand, the sound of a reefer coming on and off all night long used to drive me batty - would wake me up coming on and going off. Even when I was pulling a reefer I never did get used to it, and didn't get much sleep because of it.
