JB Hunt local?

Heres a sad story to tell. I delivered some ammonia totes today to a customer. I ran into a JB Hunt local driver. I asked about his pay and benefits. What a let down. This guy had been there going on 9 years. He said he made about 42K last year. I thought they at least were paid by the hour running local. Boy was I wrong. They get paid a flat rate depending on where they go plus mileage. I asked how the mileage worked with the traffic in LA. He said they loose money. He has to hustle to make 150 a day. He gets paid more if he has to unload the freight but that usually doesn't happen. If there is an entire truck to unload, they call a lumper service and he sleeps in his day cab. He also said that he pays a little over 100 dollars a week for medical insurance. I wish we could have talked more about benefits but he was in a hurry to get his last load and I did not want to hold him up. Here is another example of how drivers are treated and paid. If this is the way they pay there local drivers, I would hate to see how they pay there OTR drivers! Looks bad to me.

J.B. keeps calling me offering me a local job and claims I will make over $60,000

(even after I have told them 100 times not to call)

I worked for J.B once and I would rather work at McDonald's before working there again..

You want fries with that???
