Heading to C1 in Indy Sunday

Hey anybody else going to indy on the 17th for C1. I picked decker because I havent heard a whole lot of negativity, I wont get rich there either, I am gonna go get me year in then choose as I please.

Gonna be a little different going from the cab of a train to the cab of a truck.

Anyway maybe i'll see some of ya there. I have a van i will more than likely drive back and forth to school if someone needs a ride, I wont charge much.

Chad L.

Good luck Chad, keep us informed on your progress and how it goes.

How did you hook up with Decker? How was that process?

Decker is the better company owned by PAM. Decker actually Pays a good Detention, Layover and breakdown pay. Decker also still retains its own dispatchers. Though it is owned by PAM and all that can change at any time. There have been rumors and "moves" at "assymilation" to the PAM collective.

OK, I made it back from the first week, and I will give ya a small overview so far.

When you arrive monday at C1 you will be handing all your documentation and filling out a lot of paperwork, remember this Pam/Decker in the left lane all other trucking companies line up on the right.

Then get a drug test and physical, more paperwork and then you will meet the lead instructor(who only has 2 years OTR), sign your contracts if you have one and they will start conducting class, general knowledge basicallly on the first day on other such things throughout the week logging hazmat and air brakes and start you on the pre-trip inspection.
No driving till the second monday of class, but youll be busy enough.

Now we lost probably 8 due to varying problems throughout the week 1 had high bp no physical, 1 couldnt read, others to background problems.

remember if you need lodging the motel is pretty lackluster but it gets you by, you will wake up in the morning, just study and you will forget about it.

Now as far as i know you can be kicked out of class at any time, and they will try there darndest to get you with a company, there was one guy from our class and he was denied by usa and they went outside of there companies and swift ended picking him up, and paying for it as well. so there are several options.

As far as getting hooked up with decker, Ive heard less bad with them than any other company that goes through the driver solutions network. and they seem to be an ok outfit, under the pam umbrella like k7 said.

So ill head back this sunday, Yall take care

My Instructor was Kevin as well, I was reffering to Walt as the lead instructor, he only has 2 years otr and he is the lead over indy c1.

Kevin is a fun guy to listen to, he has lots of wild stories as would anyone with 25yrs as a truck driver.

Make sure if you have any medical problems that they know about BEFORE YOU ATTEND CLASS or you will be medically deferred like I was when I attended c1 back in January. That is the only thing that I will say negatively about the school. You will enjoy the first week 'cause Kevin Mitchell is great. One more thing, KNOW YOUR PRE TRIP INSPECTION!!
