Same here in Georgia. Went to renew my A permit last Monday, 30th, the day they started that mess of all days, and was told I had to have a current medical card to renew my license (which was where I was going next). So I have to go get my medical card then come back and renew my license. I do not have to retake the tests though. Test scores in Georgia are good for two years btw.

My license was to expire in about 6 weeks. I called and they said I could wait and do both after January 30.

I went in on Friday, and they said it will take about 2 years to get it all in place as licenses expire and such. By then, I have to have another card.

I had read this was coming a while back but had forgotten about it. What are the odds of me going in the DMV the day it started?!

I guess they want it like car insurance. When they run your license it will show up you are current on your DOT card.

Like you said, it will take a couple years for everyone to get in the system. After that, no more fake cards! (not me but I know some people that made there own because they could not pass the medical exam)

    Just a thought.

I watched the clerk post the information.

The first time the doctors number was posted it bounced back out. It had to be entered again. Seems there must be a way they can confirm the number now as well.

So I wonder how that works as far as letting the DMV know you renewed your medical card? I can only get a one year card (high bp) but licenses are good for longer than that. I guess I will have to go to the DMV once a year right after I leave the doctors office and update my information?

I am reading here in a past issue of Land Line "Truckers are required to present their certificates to the agencies (DMV?) upon each certificate renewal". Sounds like I will be making an additional trip every year!

You will have to self certify with a cdl-7 which can mail fax or email in PDF format. You do not have to go to DMV. In fact if you do they will charge you for sending it for you.

In WI, you are just downgraded to the lowest tier, which is INTRASTATE ONLY. IIRC. We also get a letter in the mail stating that the FrdMed card on file is about to expire.
