It's official now- C1 in Indy 3/31/08

After a few weeks of talking and deciding I went with PAM. I was scheduled (and hoping) for C1 in Newport AR BUT found out today it was either Indianapolis IN or wait another week. Adds 100 miles on my trip (adding miles will be good when I actually start gettin paid for them ) and also looks like the Indy state skills test is alot simpler than the AR test. Just backing 100 feet, offset back right, and parallel parking to right side. I was looking forward to actually learning alley dock because I like challenges.

Question for those that have attended Indy, did the instructors get you prepared just to take the State test or did they get you ready for the "real world"?

Also, I will be driving from Ga so if anyone out there is taking the dog to Indy and needs a ride to and from school give a shout.

welcome aboard

I'm at Indy right now in my first week. Not too bad so far. The first instructor you will most likely get is Kevin. He's been in the trucking industry 29 years and he tries to make class fun by telling us stories of the road or making jokes. Nice guy though, and he helps any way he can. Haven't been on the range with the other instructors yet so no info on that(range starts week 2). Now the Budget Inn that we all stay at is kinda shi**y so don't expect a five star hotel. However, the motel does provide horrible coffee and hostess donuts # 5am every morning for ya!! Anyway, overall school seems good. Good Luck!!

Shield

Thanks for the info. I checked out Google Earth and took a look at the Budget Inn and the C-1 school too. Did not seem to be that bad, probably not as bad as the first apartment I lived in

Hope the second week goes ok tho. I have seen some threads on here that say the second week is nothing like the first. Those that have said that seem to be the type that don't like to be hollered at. Personally, I was raised by a former marine DI that served 2 tours in Vietnam and then drove the big rigs for 5 years after that. I am very used to someone hollerin and cussing me if I goof
