I filled out an online app about a month before I started school and called them Monday to let them know I was in school. After giving the lady my name, she pulled up my app and said, "We cant offer you employment goodbye" and hung up on me. Very rude she was. Its just too bad she couldnt hear what I said after she hung up on me. ![]() I appreciate everyones advice and i will keep on searching

A lot of companies simply won't hire you because they feel that you are too likely to use on te road which may cause a lawsuit against them should there be an accident while you were using. They don't take the time to hear out the person who is applying. I believe people can quit using, because I quit. This should not keep you out completely, but it does severely limit your options. You may have to keep looking, and then sign on with whoever lets you. Try the big companies after Jul 2009. With 5 years passed since conviction, they may reconsider you. Of course, by then you'll have experience and may not need the big ones..

| I should have checked into this earlier (my wife says I always wait til the last minute anyway) but I thought about checking to see what it would take to get the charge expunged and how long it would take. I heard you dont always need a lawyer to do it so I thought I would call the county courthouse and see what they have to say. I have heard of people with 2 or 3 DWI's getting trucking jobs or guys that did time for murder or some sexual crime and then they want to frown on a misdemeanor possession charge. It BS. If a company wanted to random me, then fine, I have no problem with that. I think some companies should be a little more lenient because just because I used to smoke dont make me a bad person or mean I cant do the job safely. If it was a felony possession then I could see their point for not hiring me, but D**N, its was just a misdemeanor. I'll just keep looking. See what I can come up with.

Keep looking, you will find something, I hope sooner, rather than later. There are plenty of people out here doing a very safe job who made mistakes when they were younger.. I believe in second chances.

| Harley try transland in Strafford, MO. If they hire you They will start you on a box but they are needing flatbed drivers big time. They are a smaller company so maybe it would increase your chances. |
