 Newbie Looking for Advice Hi everyone! Just joined this forum, but have been reading all the posts for the last couple of weeks. I graduate from trucking school in about two weeks and I would like some free advice on who to go with. I already figured out that Swift and U.S. Express are big NO'S  , along with some others that are iffy, including Werner and Stevens. I am in the Sacramento area and would like 11 western, but 48 might be fun for awhile. Any help here would be appreciated. Thanks for your help, everyone!  |

| I would think about what I want to haul (heavy, light, hazmat, etc.) and then look at companies advertising for your area of interest. You might not live in a good freight lane, so it might take a while to find what you are looking for. Reefers are sometimes pretty heavy, long distance. Freight of All Kinds (VAN) can be a pretty good mix of things (stop offs, etc.). Vans can be more difficult for some people to unload (it takes a few minutes to dock). Flatbeds require proper tie down and tarping, no matter how you feel, or what the weather is doing. Whatever you choose, you'll be doing it everyday, and everyone will expect you to be good at it. People will be more ready to help you when they recognize you know exactly what you want. |

| Thanks for the feed back. So far Covenant, U.S. Express and Stevens have been by the school, with Werner and Gordon Trucking coming this week. I have a pre-hire from Werner and U.S. Express. I would like to go with Gordon as I have seen and heard alot of good things about them. So I am waiting to talk to their recruiter this week. Reefers can carry both kinds of loads so there's no waiting I hear. Not so much interested in flatbeds. I do know that no matter where I pick, you have to pay your dues, as it should be. |
