Mcelroy Questions

Hello everyone. I am going to orientation with Mcelroy next month and am wondering what to expect while there. I am told orientation is one week then one week of yard time. I am just wondering what I need to bring with me that the company doesn't normally tell you about. Has anyone gone through orientation with this company in NC? Any input would be great. I sure don't want to show up with out something I need.

Thanks in advance.

Jim

Just bring whatever you need to entertain yourself while they bore you to death!! Joking aside, most importantly is a !NEW! MOTOR CARRIERS road atlas, calculator, and an open mind! Oh yeah, PATIENCE is a MUST! Do a search for McElroy in this forum, to prepare yourself.

Thanks for the info. I have read most of the posts about this company and have come to the realization that there is not a single company out there that is going to make everyone happy all the time. I am pretty sure that I can endure this after 22 years in the US Navy. To tell you the truth I am looking forward to the job change. If this isn't the company for me I think I might be able to find another one out there that might be better or more suited to me. BTW are you still driving for them?

Uhhhh, you're going to be in for one hell of a shock for sure.

22 years? Your used to a set of rules that everyone follows, it doesn't change, and if someone gets caught bending them, they get bent.

And you're about to come into an industry where the playbook gets rewrote daily, if not hourly. The days of say what you mean, mean what you say is over.

You'll be fine though They want prior military. But, they're seldom prepared for us. Be prepared to be labeled as a person with a "bad attitude". All because you want to play by the rules 24/7.

Again, you'll be just fine. Whoever you go to work for.

Forgive me for yelling, but ##$% NO!!!! Little miles means little pay. Went below broke in the wallet!! Left them mid-January for GREENER pastures, and I do mean $GREEN$. Local company near me, I get most of the mid-range loads, got 2200 miles this last week, and was at home Monday night & Tuesday to boot. Back at home Friday at 5pm, will leave Sunday night/Monday morning to Memphis, be back home Monday afternoon.
