| Driving record too bad to be employable...???? I am planning on going to Driving School and paying for it myself. Then work with a good company for a year or two, buy a truck and do the o/o life. I have spoken with two schools. One said my driving record will not hinder my chances of getting a job. The other said my driving record will pose a problem getting a job. The main issues are. July 07 Speeding 64 in a 55 ( 3 points ) January 07 Speeding 92 in a 70 ( 4 points ) June 06 Speeding 62 in a 45 ( 3 points ) Any idea which of the different schools is more correct ? Thanks. |

All you need now is a good ol' high rolling truck and you'd be in "bidness"....I'm just gouging you. That's probably gonna look pretty rough on you.You may want to consider a community college course and try it that way.You don't wanna work for them communist acting big companies anyway.Check the ten zillion posts about them on here.

| I am not ragging on you dude, because about 27 years ago I had a similar driving record... but wow, FL really has some relatively lax traffic laws compared to other states... in both NY and CA, three moving violations within 18 months, will get you a mandatory 6 month revocation of your license. You should consider yourself lucky to still be driving at all. I don't even want to ask what your insurance currently costs. It will depend on the company, but in my opinion the school claiming it will not effect your job prospects is lying like a rug... that alone should put up a red flag the size of the one that is in front of the Kremlin, in regards to that school. I'd do some research and call a half dozen companies before investing in school. It is the companies' insurance providers that will likely have the final word on your employability. Fact is, I'd contact the FL DMV to see if that kind of record will effect your ability to currently get a Class A license, without some time for that record to clear out.

| He's not kidding about IL in the least. They'll put something on ya that ajax won't get off over those tickets nowadays. In fact Med,I've got a discussion going with some out of staters in another thread who think IL is the source of crappy unskilled foreign drivers.I don't think thats happening at all.I told em' to scope out TN dmv on site at the Swift school for their culprit, but not IL.

I just came out of C-1 Indy and used Driver's Solutions. I only had one speeding ticket on my 10 year MVR and it was from July of last year for 52 in a 45. The recruiter of course told me it would not be a problem at all. However when I finally got to school they needed all kind of information on it. I knew one other guy that had 2 different speeding tickets one was for 10 over and the other was for more than 15 over (I want to say like 17 over) both were from interstate speed limits. He was sent home pretty quick due to just having those 2. Previous poster said it all, 2 tickets at 15+ over (and one of those being in a 45 zone) will be very hard to overcome. You may be able to get into a school and actually be allowed to complete the course. However, finding a company that will pay the added insurance will be an uphill battle. Safety departments seem to be a bit tight when it comes to that. Best of luck to you though, maybe you will be the exception to the rule.

| Thanks for your responses folks. Although none of them contained any good news......agggghhh. However, I spent last night looking at the job requirments for companies that are advertising on various web sites. Below is a fairly typical example of the majority of them. No more than 3 moving violations in 3 years. ( Some companies are, no more than 4, others are , no more than 2. But the biggest majority specify, no more than 3. Am I missing something ? Job Description: Basic Requirements: *must be at least 21 years old. *No more than 3 moving violations in past 3 years. *No more than 1 preventable accident in past 3 years, must be at least 6 mos. old. *No DUI/DWI in past 5 years. *No license suspention for major moving violations in past 3 years. *No Felonies past 10 years. *No drug/violence related felonies ever. *No misdemeanors in past 2 years. *No drug related misdemeanor in past 3 years. . |

| There is a difference between a moving violation and a serious moving violation. You may be OK, I don't know. Anything over 15 is a serious violation. I think in PA if you get 2 in 3 years you they will suspend your license for 90 days.

| Hey Irishman, one thing you can do, not saying its gonna be a 'cure-all', is take a driver improvment course to get the points knocked down. I'm not sure how many FL will take off, or if there is a standard, but VA will take off 5 points for the course. Companies might take that into consideration. |
