Hi, I've been driving awhile but have been doing local. Now I'm at a new company and supposed to be on the long haul board. Problem is, when I come in (home terminal) to reset, I can't get a straight answer to when I'm being dispatched again. Am I really expected to sit by the phone waiting for a call that might or might not come??? What boundries do some of you set with your dispatchers.......
Help with dispatch pls

I can pretty much guarantee you will get a quicker response from your dispatcher if they know you are in the tuck ready to be quickly dispatched, not to mention burning their fuel idling.

Am I being unreasonable to think since I'm at their beck and call all week while physically in the truck, that at least I deserve some sort of heads up about my initial dispatch after resetting? -
I am guessing that you are not on the long haul board as of yet. If you come in a week from now, or two weeks from now after some time out, it might be pretty hard for them to determine when you will be going out next, depending on size of company, how many drivers, what you all haul etc.......

Their are alot of factors that might be in play here............How long has he been working there, how many friends he looks out for first, how you have to earn his attention.........just a few.........
People of power want only oe thing ......more power.(OR AT LEAST FEEL LIKE IT) We all know the types (flashlight cops, janitors who take on security duty, store superv. who just got promoted, etc)
You have to find out what this guys button is.Try a couple of differen angles and pay close attention to the response you get.
I had a boss one time that use to be abusive, cold, degrading, intolerable until one day I threatened to kick his A@#. From that day forward we were best of freinds. ( I am not suggesting you do that however, everyone has something they need to be in their (HAPPY GILMORE PLACE)
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
The other thing you can do is talk to other drivers when you come across them and ask if they have him or know about him.
***( IMPORTANT WHEN YOU DO THIS DO NOT BASH THE DISPATCHER)**
You don't know who might be his freind or what. Hope this helps, let us know how it goes...............Good luck................J -
thanks for the tips guys, I appreciate it.......... I agree discreet inquirires with other drivers might be a good route to go, safe driving everyone. Dan
