| Look at what you would be paying in benefits if you took the closer job. I am sure that is way more than the gas. Keep the farther job, get a motorcycle.

| Thanks, The benefits kick in # 90 days. I will do the math to see what it cost for the benefits and gas Vs getting benefits on my own. |

| Heck - In RI you could just walk to the next state for that job! ![]() Ok - that was unkind. If you are uncomfortable with a motorcycle, you might look at picking up a Hybrid. Probably too far to commute in a pure electric.

| Fact of Life Sorry to break the news to everyone but............... Gas prices will continue to rise....... forever............... So will the cost of milk, bread and cheese....... Accommodate, adjust, compensate, substitute, economize, (you get the picture).......... I'm sorry...... it just seems silly to complain and whine incessantly about something that is not going to change..... House prices across the country rose as much as 200% (or more) in recent years........ at least gas prices aren't keeping pace with housing! As for the thread................take the BENEFITS....... hands down.......

| No Offense ment! I don't mean to offend anyone, but I totally disagree with you. The housing prices was the fault of countly real estate brokers wanting to get rich. The American people could have highly protested... but the buyers wanted to get rich too!! Sham on us! ![]() The gas prices have not to be stopped some how. Or the lower class and middle class are going to fall. I live in Birmingham, AL where it is $3.60 a gallon. When the lower class and middle class can't afford to get to work due to gas prices, how will the upper crust continue to funtion? It is hitting the truck industry too. My husband just went to CDL school in Little Rock, AR. On his 5th day there, USA Truck revolked his employment due to THE RISE IN GAS. I think it was a cop-out, but never the less, it may have been valid. Truckers and the Companies are starting to suffer too! ![]() American's better wake up and smell the oil. We need to open US oil holes, start more US operated oil refineries (this will offer more job, since everone including Hershey is outsourcing) and stop relying on foreign oil or we are going UNDER! And don't think our goverment is not liking the higher prices. Taxes are being drawn off the higher prices paying goverment salaries & so forth.Well, I will get off my soap box. Good luck keeping benefits and finding a job with fits. Just keep our economy in mind when switch jobs - last in/first out.

| My biggest question is how long to you plan to keep either job? If you end up taking the job that is closer, you can still search for a better job...which are always out there for driver. If you take the job further away, will the expenses you incur be worth the benefits?
