I am looking to get back into the trucking industry after mainy years of being out of it after reading 100's of these threads I have narrowed down the companies that will hire students or have their own schools.

After saying that here is what I would like in comments or advise in this thread.

1. What company has the highest wage "WHILE being in the truck with a trainer"
2. What company "after going solo" has the best equiped trucks ie XML radio/APU's all around driver comfort
3. What Company has the least mount of BS, let me clarify what I am asking, I want to drive from point A to Point B etc 99% D/U no touch, I dont want to be unloading freight (I am NOT a lumper) I dont want to be just another truck number and would like to have dispatch know me by my first name without having to look it up.

Now I know number 3 is a long shot and you have to understand I feel I paid my dues back in the "good ole days" (not to be confused with even further back in the bad ole days).
Any Suggestions or Opinions would be appreciated.

Also please dont go on a rant about being "Lazy" or "Pipe Dreams",what a drivers job is supposed to be and so forth just constructive advice please

can only give you answers on 3 companies.

Maverick, they will take drivers that have cdl's but havent been in a truck for a long time (had a couple guys in my orientation that had been out of a truck for over 10 years). They do take students from schools.
The pay while I was there was $100 a day while with trainer.
I no longer work for maverick, left to go local.

Local end dump job. Also paid $100 a day while with trainer. Will take recent cdl school graduates. Still work here but not making enough money now to stay.

Roehl. They pay $100 a day while with trainer. They take cdl school graduates. Im still in the courting stage with this company.

Well thats about all I have.

You need to learn the DOT regulations on logging all over . They have changed ALLOT

After reading many of your threads I do appreciate all you have contributed, but what in the world does your reply do to answer any of my questions?.

In my OP I stated I have narrowed down my search on the companies that hire and or train students, I posted in the Newbie forum and stated that I was "looking to get back into the trucking industry" now dont you think from that I already am aware that I have to learn everything over again?

Please Folks if you cant contribute to what I am asking for then just read and continue on and those that can and have I thank you, just dont reply to up your post count

Seems as if most of the Drivers are out, so if no one minds I will give this a shamless "Bump" too keep it in the main stream for a few days in hopes of a few more answers.

Conway Truckload -- Formerly CFI would be you best choice.

They would meet all your criteria.

My knowledge is old. And may need updating. But last I am aware of;

They required only 7500 miles with a trainer # .26 a mile (after a paid week at Crowder College), then you went directly into your own truck. No additional testing required.

You'll start solo at .28, with raises throughout your first 125K miles. To get you to .35 a mile.

Once again, it may have changed. I left over a year ago. I believe their 125K mark..is now .36 a mile.

Thank you for your reply, but something must have been lost in typing my original post, I dont want to be a lumper but the company you suggest "Conway" after reading the DAC reports people say you have to work the DOCK....(Sigh) I dont understand so lets try this again I am looking for advise and opinions on the following.

Again...read the above post.

Adding... Conway Truckload is NOT Conway LTL.

They are run from differant areas, although they are part of the same company.

You won't get 99% drop and hook from them, or ANYONE you apply with.

You will get 99% plus no touch though. And you WON'T be asked to work the docks.

I do appologize, I saw Conway and just read the DAC about Con-Way, I didnt see anything about a sepprate division.

So on what trucks and creature comforts CFI information would be most current, Yes?
