| What do y'all think of this? This particular school here doesn't specify any amount of hours as far as training goes, they train a person until they think he/she's ready to take their CDL test they charge $795. But my question is don't most trucking companies want you to have a certain amount of hours before considered a "recent graduate". Last edited by Cybergal; 05.14.2008 at 06.55 PM. | If you are talking about cdl road test in Houston, DON'T DO IT. This is just a place to get your cdl, not any kind of school. they will give you the texas hand book give you a pre test before you go to the dmv and you get about 3 days behind the wheel and take your road test. No instruction on truck driving. They show you air brakes, pre trip, and backing. you use there truck to take the test, when you pass they give you a list of companies hiring drivers, then you are on your own. When you contact companies to go to work they will tell you that you need 160 hours from an approved school. i am going to roadmaster in San Antonio. I will graduate on Thursday next week. I only put 1500 down and that includes the hotel. check out my thread on roadmaster in the driver school section. good luck |

Ok,that's kinda what I figured sort of a ripoff, this lady over there told me on the phone that a lot of drivers come here to get their CDL to get a local job and get enough experience to go OTR,that's when I told the lady I always thought it was the other way around go OTR to get enough experience to get a local gig? Lot of ripoffs out there I can see that already. |
