arnold driver

first of all im new to this forum and i think it's full oif knowledge and i love it. recently i went out with a trucker friend of mine just to observe and get the feel of what i was about to get into.while traveling in atlanta around 4 a.m in the morning we approached a truck driving real erratic.as we got closer to the truck i noticed it was a driver from arnold trucking.this guy was all over the road swerving and barely missing cars by less than 2 feet.he managed to get in the middle lane but could not hold the truck in the lane for only a few seconds before he started to swerve again and again.my buddy got on the c.b radio and stated "arnold wake up you gonna hurt someone,if ya sleepy pull over".he done this several times but the driver never responded.i thought this was so strange and odd because i always noticed that most truckers were very safety oriented.i was really shocked.i dont know what happened to him after we passed him my buddy stated we are getting away from him...

Durtty,I'm Responding mostly because no one else has stepped up to the plate.I won't try to justify the unsafe actions of, nor attempt to defend any "PROFESSIONAL" driver who push themselves to the point of Becoming a danger to themselves and those around them due to exhaustion. However, I will make two remarks in responce to your observation. First,Only that driver knows the whole story. It may not have even been exhaustion, other possibilties such as illness and/or medication(or lack thereof).Even that driver may not be aware of. But,your friend was right, that driver should have put it on the side.Let the load get there when it gets there.Even DOT allows a driver to determine when it is safe or not to continue a run for various reasons.Secondly,About him not responding on the C.B. I myself and most of those I know Keep the Radio turned down or squelched now days, simply due to the overwhelming corruption, violence, and unsencored nastyness found on the wavelenths today.I wish some of those individuals mothers could hear them!(HEY,That sounds like a Good Thread).But,all-in-all most drivers are "PROFESSIONAL" enough to realize when it's time to put it on the side.Don't judge the Orchard by one(or two,or three) bad Apples.GOOD LUCK from Crusty.
