| Driving record question Howdy, I'm currently looking into trucking as an option and I have a question. Can someone define for me "Clean Driving Record"? If state matters, I am in Texas. I had a wreck about 5 years ago(1st one ever and it was my fault) and a ticket for running a red light 2 years ago. I'm 45 and have had maybe 3 speeding tickets(maybe less). Does this disqualify me? Thanks a ton for any input, Spencer |

| The red light will be an issue. But that alone won't keep you from getting a job. The wreck, I'm not sure how far back they go now. I haven't had to deal with it in so long. I simply don't pay attention to the lengths on the forms. A clean record is just that "Clean". Parking tickets are not an issue, unless you were ticketed for parking on a ramp. But anything having to do with the operation of a moving vehicle is. Your speeding tickets. If they're over 7 years old. Don't worry about them. Best thing you can do. Have your DMV record pulled, and take a look at it. If it's there, they're going to see it. If it's not there, they will get to see it albeit too late. After DAC gets done with you. For future reference. Some traffic violations show up on your DAC report as misdemeaner charges. Not traffic violations. These are collected as part of your "background" report, and not submitted by any company.

| Hrm - two questions, really. Obviously, a clean MVR is one with nothing on it. In Colorado, that would include just the basics: DL nr, name, address, stuff like that. Unclean, it will have traffic convictions, DUI, parking tickets if unpaid... etc Mine has a traffic conviction from November of last year: Following too Close. (I'm unclean! unclean! shun him!) No wrecks or other moving violations, though. I think the wreck is likely to be the bigger problem, but nothing I see is insurmountable - depending on the age of the speeding tickets. If they're less than 10 years old.. they could be an issue. Older than that, I'd not worry about 'em. Newer equals worser, so to speak (it also matters by how much you were speeding, and whether you possessed a CDL at the time) I think I'd say the record isn't "clean", but you are still employable. And not just by a bottom feeder company. Probably won't be a perfect company (we all know how common those are, anyway), But I'd bet a mid-stream or smaller company would take you on. Even if they aren't ideal, stick with them for a year or two, keep your record clean and THEN go to a better company.
