| roll overs Can anyone with experience tell me the reasons for rollovers. From what I know, its speed the hieght of the load and the curve. while all is very informative I was assinged a volvo and this truck leans like nothing I've ever driven; I usually have to drop dow to like 55 in a 65 just to feel comfortable. All I'm asking is how get use to such an flexible truck without the fear of a rollover thanks for your help. |

how do you get used to it??? I dunno ??? try calling someone on your cell-phone while driving... this seems help other drivers over come their fears of accidents, death, roll-overs, and carnage in general. and it only drops your I.Q. about 60 points while in use. ![]() ![]()

| As far as getting used to it, well........ya either do or dont, there is no magic formula for getting used to things, but I suspect the more time you have in it the more you will be accustomed to it. Knowing whats in your box will help you determine your speed through curves and around corners. I bet a month from now you will not notice it at all. |

| Roll overs occur because of centrifugal force of gravity [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. Slow down 5 miles slower than the posted speed for the curve ( as im6under stated) or slower if that makes you comfortable. If you really want to feel your bottom end tighten up, try operating a fully loaded 988 loader on a slope loading trucks.

| I got used to it by driving unbaffled tankers for a summer...You could feel the water climb the side of the tank when you made a turn. Now, driving freight it is a breeze...My advice is the same as others: slow down to below posted speed for turn BEFORE entering the turn and be in the correct gear to maintain that speed through the turn. I've noticed that air-ride tractors tend to lean more than what I drove 25 years ago in my first OTR life. Of course my old 1980 Freightshaker drove like it had no suspension...can't lean if it is without suspension !

| don't make the mistake of thinking you have to be going fast to flip a truck over. you can tip one in a parking lot at .1 MPH if you don't know what you're doing. especially with a spread axle trailer.

| a big thing alot don't realize is... slow down before you get there, then slightly accelerate thru the curve. that way you are pulling the trailer rather than it pushing you. braking thru a corner causes the trailer to push against the tractor from the side. it's like racin' LOL except much slower

| I wonder -------- are you feeling the truck actually leaning, or just the cab air-ride (if so equipped)? I remember my first experience in an air-ride cab Freightliner Classic. I thought I was in a heavy cross-wind. But after about 100 miles, I got used to it. |
