iowa smoking ban

yeah... read the seatbelt thread again and it suddenly popped in my head... july 1st, no smoking in the cab of a truck here in Iowa.

it's a place of business...??? no smoking in public places... restaurants and bars was the bill or law that past...

anyways... no smoking in trucks... lmao !!!!

I swear the next time I get pulled over I won't be calling the cop, trooper or officer...

from now on they will officially be known by me as "Hall Monitor"

why yes, hall monitor jones I was smoking and I'm very glad you pulled me over. I didn't even realize the danger I was putting everyone in, I just unconsciously lit up out of a force of habit. Sign here at the bottom??? Sure thing hall monitor Jones, and you have a nice day also...

good thing you were here... btw... watch out for the south side, they are selling crack over there and I wouldn't want you to get distracted from your appointed duties by having to bust them while there are so many hardened criminals like me over here with there Marlborro's. tahhhh...

I just got notified that it is illegal to smoke in the truck as well, not that I do.

Wonder what the mechanics will do now when they have the urge?

i dont smoke, but i've been meaning to start. I live in iowa, but i dont smoke. I think the law is a good thing, BUT not in a place of business. If Dick and Joe's bar wants to allow smoking, they should. What i dont get about the law, is that the state will crack down on smoking in a small corner bar, but yet big county owned casinos like...um...that horse track one in Altoona, Iowa...(and the rest of the casinos in iowa) it is okay to smoke on the gaming floor. So basicly the state is saying "we want the tax revenue from the casinos, we care about public health, but we dont care about the health of those that go/work in casinos."

I dont smoke, but if i ever am driving solo in a truck, thru iowa, i should light up one just as the trooper walked up to my truck. The truck is my home while i'm on the road, yeah? State telling me i cant smoke in my home now??

Yep. Let's all keep voting for those Democrats, and that will be the next law to get passed. No smoking in your house. No farting in your house either.

As someone allergic to cigarettes, I am glad to see it happen. It makes it nice to finally be able to eat in restaurants rather than the truck.

Also, there have been many of the states that have passed the laws on cigarettes that were indeed signed by Republicans. Granted not as many though.

When it comes to doing such things like smoking in your truck, it should not be any of their business what you do.. Yup elect democratics, and you will see all kinds of changes that affect you in places that should be out of bounds to them...

I agree. Unless you share the truck, such as a night driver to a day driver. Been in that boat before and quit soon after.

As I said before, It takes both parties to pass the law. A democrat in the governor office cannot do it alone. Get real.

We were told no more smoking in our trucks affective April 1, but that never came to pass.. At the rate in which they pass stupid laws, pretty soon, we will be known as a Dictatorship, rather than a democratic country..

... How the hell can they pass a law to protect public health when you are inside a closed truck...

I am all for smoking bans but even I think that one is a wee bit stupid.
