About to get Permit - A few questions

So I got the handbook and have been reading over it. I found a bunch of websites that have practice tests and I feel I am ready to take the plunge. Going to get all endorsements (except passenger) done in one go. However, I do have a few questions about how this all works.

1. Are tests for each endorsement the same? Are they all multiple choice or true/false?

2. I know this might vary depending on your state (I live in TX). What is the cost to get a permit? I tried looking this up on the txdps website but they only seem to list the cost of the license.

3. Do I need to get a permit with all the endorsements I want or do I just wait till I test for the license for that?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

1.All the tests I took were the same format. 2.Don't know about Texas? In Nebr. you can get them all in one shot or pay $10 each time you go back.I suppose it's because they have to print a new licence each time? I'd skip them unless you know you're absolutely going to need them. I have endorsements I'll never use. Some companies will pay for your Hazmat fee. I don't have one of those but I probably should because I'm kind of hazardous.3.You get a permit to practice on a raggedy piece of junk with old tires in the back. I doubt any school is gonna have you pulling trips or tankers. Are you going to a school?

Here they was multiple choice..... No they are not all the same, you fail it and come back the next day the order of the questions will be different and may be a few new questions a well..

Was $35 here plus you had to have a DOT physical card

There will be several different test, you will have to take general knowledge , air breaks and then combination... the rest you can get at a later date...

Nevermind. I'm making this more confusing than it is.

It'depends on what your school says as to where you get it.but yes,you have to have it to drive. If you can't pass that, what's the sense in going to class?

No you have to pass those test before you can get a permit

The only test I listed that he would not have to take in order to get a Class A permit is air brakes, but if he plans on driving a big truck he has to have air brakes....

Not arguing with you ,I just don't want him to get confused. When you're starting ,you want to get all the merit badges but they don't count for anything if you're not gonna pull that kind of load.

My school requires that I have a permit before the first day. So I am guessing Ill need DOT card and permit since I can't get a permit without a DOT card (even though the school didn't say anything about a DOT card).
