| US Xpress - Deal or No Deal Got pre-hired with US Xpress, just have to go through school and finish, get my CDLs. Never drove before. Im signing up for team driving, seems thats where the money is. According to paperwork and recruiters, Im looking at about 5k miles weekly. A Base pay split at upgrade (dont know what this means) of .40cpm + .6cpm hazmat (.44cpm base +.2bonus) + .2cpm accessorial pay. Total .48cpm. Plus a split $7k sign on bonus. This is $60k package, which I really want to believe, but Im finding it hard to do so. Any help will be much appreciated. |

Remember this OLD saying...If it sounds to good to be true chances are it's not. Recruiters will tell you things to < HOOK > and < REEL> you in. Once you are in there then you are < SET >. If the company has a Per-Diem in place they will tell you that so much out of the token about is not taxed...bottom line is you get paid less for the same amount of work, YOU save the company money not yourself. The government gives drivers so much money per day to be away from home. I too can't believe the story about this 60 K package...to far fetched. Teams are were the money is because the truck really doesn't (technically) stop and is always running. Depending on the load and time you have to really plan out when and how to shower, eat, wash clothes etc, etc. I know because I did drive as part of a team. Good money for the most part but a lot more thought in trip planning for two. Good Luck |

| From what I understand about team pay it's simple. If they pay team 48 cents per mile, you split it 24 +24. So if you driver 5000 miles a week at 48cpm that equals $2400 dollars split 2 ways $1200 week per driver.. |

How about if you just ask them to guarantee you $50,000 instead? |

| Do you really want to run 5,000 miles a week constantly in a truck when it pays less than running solo getting a good night's sleep every night and getting 2500-3,000 miles a week at over $.38 a mile ? Most of the USX teams I see are speeding . Why do they feel it necessary to do that ? Put U.S. Xpress's DOT number (303024) in company snapshot at safersys.org and check their safestat safety history . They were fined $7500 in a December '06 audit for logbook falsification . Why were drivers falsifying their logs ? Too may red flags here . |
