wild ride

Sometime last week I was driving down I-40 and I apparently hit a small piece of debris. I thought I heard some air leaking, but since i am new to the truck driving scene, I thought it was something from the motor.

Boy was I wrong. It was a slow leak that became a very big leak. Steer tire, drivers side completely shredded. The truck pulled very hard to the left. Since I have been driving cars for 25 years I knew not to hit the brakes. I slowly pulled the truck over to the curb and shut down and called for breakdown service. I then decided to check my shorts to see if I needed to change them. I was lucky. No need to change.

As I was sitting on the side of the road, I heard someone on the cb say
"That must have been a wild ride" You aint kidding. It scared the snot out of me. But I lived, no one got hurt, no damage to the truck. All went well.

Good for you, keeping your cool and using your head in getting it pulled over and off the road. I'm glad that nothing else was damaged.

I want to echo this statement! You did not panic, and that may well have saved your life.

You can use the hand brake for the trailer brakes if you need to.
