straight rigs

I have been seeing a few straight rigs with sleepers on I-10. I haven't been able to catch the name of the companys. Was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about them?

Those would most likely be expedite companys, same day freight, etc.

One of the companies is Panther II. Well, I don't know if they run in your area but I have seen the around alot. Then there is one called Tri-State, but thats probably a regional thing thats around me.

The expediter companies mentioned do not own any trucks . Some contractors are O/O's in their own truck . There are many fleet owners that own several trucks and contract drivers , mostly teams to run them . It's pretty well agreed the best way to get started is to drive for a fleet owner rather than buy a truck and start in debt .The usual agreement is a 60/40 split . The driver gets 60% of the gross and buys the fuel . Most expediters stay out 3 or 4 weeks then take a week off . Google expeditersonline
