Help 2 The Great American Trucking Show?

I went by my local T/A yesterday and picked up a few of the magazines that are in the fuel desk enterence. In the Aug. 1st issue of "The Trucker" I see that The Great American Trucking Show will be at the Dallas Convention Center on the 21st thru the 23rd. Is this show only for truck products and acessories or will there be trucking companies there to try and recruit drivers? Would this be a good show for a newbie/wantabe to go and check out or would it be a waste of time? If someone has been to one of these shows before, what is your recommendation?

I honestly don't know the answer to your question. I would think they will have recruiters at these shows. At least from some of the big name companies. I would like to know if it costs to get in the show. I will be in Dallas on the 21st. So I might have to check this out.

I found the website for the TGATS, but I do not find where it says anything about an admission charge. It did say however that there would be plenty of free parking for trucks. They open at 12 noon on the 21st, and at 10am on the 22nd & 23rd. They close at 6pm everyday.
They also list the exhibitors and it looks like there will be serveral trucking companies there. Here is a link:

According to the website. They have a recruiting pavilion and last year over 80 companies participated. So I would have to say yes but don't hold me to it.

Thanks for the input, I have already made plans to spend about half the day there. Hope to leave there with a game plan on a start date.

I figure that with so many different companies there, that it will be easier to compare apples to apples.

I enjoyed walking throughout the show today. Lots and lots of recruiters, dealers and truth distorter's. The best part of the show is looking at all the purdy trucks. You should have no problem networking or finding a job there. I was looking at o/o or leasing on to a company and ended up talking to a guy that has couple of trucks right here by my house. I can make the same money here locally as a O/O and be in my bed every other night. I will investigate further after the show ends.
