I don't see it here so let me add this one. If you are in Arizona and headed to Las Vegas, NV with the restrictions for commercial vehicles in place you have to exit at exit 48 go north a few miles. I think then you get on AZ64 (Not sure if this is the road number or not haven't run it in several years) and then you have a 13 mile 7% grade. At the bottom of the grade there are 2 red lights in the Arizona side of Laughlin NV. Seen many wrecks and truck fires there. Now a easier way around that mess is just go into California and take HWY 95 North into Nevada. Save time in long run and is much safer.
Another nice Arizona Road is US 60 in Salt River Canyon. Comes complete with 7-8% grades hair pin turns and no shoulder, but has a breath taking view.

HOTROD628.....I believe its the 163 that drops into laughlin, nv. Yep its a pretty nice down grade, but at night at the top of the grade when your lookn down at all the lights its a pretty cool scene. B SAFE AND HAPPY DRIVN

you can't take a truck there... but going into Mesa Verde... there's a section of that road thats a bazzillion miles in the air and straight down on one side... I swear you can see California from up there. IF you are acrophobic, this is not a good place for you

Ashland I5 northern Ca, Grapevine in So Cal not bad for me, some have issues with Cajon Pass also in Ca. US 191 North of Vernal, Ut near the mines. My first downhill with a fully loaded truck while in training was I80 east of Albuquerque under construction the company I was with then believes in No Jake.

None are any fun in crappy weather. But there's some that you have to be awake for more than others. Glenwood canyon on I-70 in Colorado can be rough. Donner's a good one. One of my favorites is running from Flagstaff to Phoenix through Camp Verde. Hwy 68 down into Bullhead City, AZ/Laughlin, NV is fun.

That's the grade I was talking about in my first posting. That road was horrible before they widen it into 4 lanes on the NV side. I had to take a loaded super tanker down there many times to the station in Laughlin at it grossed around 105,000lbs. Never did smoke the brakes but there were alot of other trucks that did. Then I would go over into Bullhead city with the smaller truck to drop there. If we had a drop in Kingman we couldn't take the easier way over through CA because our trucks couldn't go into CA but it is alot better to go that way. That's the road that the comedian Sam Kinison got killed on. BTW, if you drive through Bullhead City and see someone waving they're not waving at you, they're swatting away the Bullhead Gnat (the one the city is named after).

Going across Hover Dam was exciting too.

Does anyone know of a listing of these roads and the elevations and % of the grades? I think that would be a great thing to have along with you while mapping a route. I looked in our map books but may have overlooked something like this. Also, are there still trucks out there on the road today, newer trucks, that don't have jake brakes?
