Prior to hearing the terrible news that the rather well paid elevator operating 'staff', some who had been in the same position for MANY years, who I didn't realize even existed --- until I learned they were all laid off, have been put out of service. For some add reason, that job, dare I say "lifestyle", doesn't seem to have the same turn-over rate as Big truck truckin' though. Hmmmmmmmmm I'm thinkin' there were more 'perks', than met the eye.
