My plan is to go to weekend school to get my CDL and see what happens after that,we have one around here that takes 12 weekends to get your CDL.
Besides it's always good to have a CDL in your pocket to fall back on,I think trucking will be around for a long time unlike the papermills in the U.S.
I think a person can get burned out with any job though in my opinion.
The weekend school sounds like a good idea. What is the name of that school? I live in Missouri. I don't know if there is a weekend school close to me or not. Does anyone know of one?

Just be aware that once you get your CDL if you're not driving just about 100% of the companies out there will require you to go through a refresher course after you've been out of school for awhile. I'm not sure how long the time frame is but what I've read the refresher to me is no big deal. But that's me.

I live close to Houston that's where the school is for appr. $2500.
I'm 45 and have no intention on getting back in construction work again if something ever happens to the mill where I work now.

Milby, do an internet search for your area. There are many private schools around. Also be sure to check into state/federal grants that may be offered to you. (When you find a school, they will know if there are any.) Looking at some of the schooling prices for some of these companies, I think it may be a bit cheaper to go through a private school.
