U.S. Express and other trucking companies

Hi Everyone,

I'm very happy first of all that I've joined this website. There are loads of useful information from lots of you.
Anyway, I'm a trucker's wife. My husband is looking for a new job. He has worked locally in CT so far. Now, that we've posted his resume online big companies calling him from left and right.
Does anyone have a take on U.S. Express? We need an income of about $55000 from him. Are there any trucking jobs out there where he can make this money and still be happy?
Lots of you sound miserable with the long haul jobs paid by the mile.
I'm just looking out for him. He is very hard working doesn't mind the overtime. He needs to be appreciated. At his last company he worked his butt off over the summer when it was the busiest and now that the work slowed down they hired two new drivers with half the pay and fired him on a pathetic excuse.
Thanks so much for the replies in advance.

Well...i'm currently still a student in truck driving school but US express comes to my school all the time to try and get drivers...well...the pay will depend on what company he goes too...also his experience...for example...he your husband has 5 years driving experience...he may get 41 cent at company A...but at company B he'll get 39 cent...so i mean it really depends on the company and experience because all companies pay differently...but also...on websites like these...majarity of the comments will be negative towards companies...because people only complain when they not happy...nobody that is happy complains...lol...i'm sure if your happy at a job and they paying you great...you'll smile get paid and live life...i don't think you'll rush to the computer to tell people how great your job is...your not thinking about that...BUT...if things was inverted...you'll be flipping out...trying to make everyone avoid it...lol...but different people fit different companies...i'm sure you had a job someone hated but you like...or a job you hated but someone liked...the way i see it is...if nobody likes the company or wants to where there...with a CDL you can drive for anyone...why would they stay?...
