MY FRIEND AND I ARE GOING TO RUN THE TEAM THING AND HE WAS TOLD YOU CAN DRIVE 8 HOURS ONLY THEN YOU HAVE TO SWITCH DRIVERS. IS THIS TRUE?IF SO,HOW CAN TEAMS KEEP THE WHEELS ROLLING LONG ENOUGH TO MAKE MILES?I THOUGHT YOU COULD DRIVE YOUR TEN OR 11 UNTIL YOU GET YOUR 70 HRS. IN 8 DAYS.AS A NEWBY,IM CONFUSED ABOUT THIS.PLEASE ENLIGHTEN ME.

It is up to the team drivers on how much they want to drive.

Alot of people do it 10/10 some do it 11/11 and others may do it 8/8

You Can drive your full 11 hours if you want just remember once one person starts driving their 14 hour clock starts and will not stop unless he or she is in the sleeper for 8 hours. So I would recomend that who ever starts driving let them drive untill they want to stop then switch drivers.

Me personally I can not sleep in a moving truck because I would be worried about the other person having a wreck.

Team drivers can drive whatever they want, but like MGASSEL said once you start then your 14 starts. When I was team driving me an my co-driver drove on 12 hour shifts giving each of us an hour during the day to do whatever, shower, pee, eat, rest, and what have ya. We had a hard time finding a good time to start the shifts, we tried 7am-7pm, 5-5, 12-12, and 2-2. The one we had the most luck with was the 12-12 one but everyones different. Its hard to sleep in a moving truck, and it sucks when you have to get unloaded or loaded and its your time to sleep. But the money is great, the miles are always there, and you will get 2000-2500 mile loads, and alot of coast to coast stuff. When I started out on our first team load, we started in MN, went to CT, then NY NY, to SC then to CA. Had a lot of fun teaming and was nice to have someone to talk to, or help getting into a tight dock. Good luck to ya and hope all goes well.

How can/could you stay in the bunk for 12 hours? Even if you come up into the jump seat, that makes for a long grueling day.

No...that's life driving teams with you.

I never pulled more than a 10 shift, unless my co-driver was incapacitated for some reason. We planned our driver swaps as close to fuel stops as possible. And showered at the nearest truck stop to our final. One would cook/make something for the other to eat, while the truck rolled.
