First off, I have been so tired that I couldn't sleep, hence the insomnia.

Yes, I'm no expert on the subject of drugs. Sorry, and this is just my opinion but, I don't think a person who has abused drugs/alcohol should be given a CDL....period. I think they're lucky if they can get a driver license to drive a car, but this is just my opinion. I'm sorry you got defensive about what others were telling you. YOU came to this forum and ASKED about something. YOU didn't like the answers you got, fair enough, but you asked.

I never claimed to be an expert on the subject of detoxing from drug addiction. You're right, I have no clue where you're coming from because I have no clue why someone would do something so stupid as to get hooked on drugs/alcohol in the first place, but this is only my opinion. Most on these threads are true professional drivers and take their job seriously and don't need for someone who's shown a propensity to abuse substances to contribute to the bad rap they get to begin with. Good luck to you in your venture and I pray that you stay clean and realize that life is what you make it.

I'm sorry you got offended by what some on here have said. A person who is on any kind of medication, and I don't care if it's Nyquil, should not be operating a 80,000lb machine, as long as it can affect their motor skills or mental perception. Excuse me if I care that you could be operating that multi-ton machine on the highway while under the influence of a narcotic, while I or my family, or anyone's family is traveling on that same highway.

I also said good for you that you were cleaning up your act, but I guess you missed that part. If you came here with the intention of trying to extract some sympathy or compassion from folks who are in the trucking industry, sorry to disappoint you.

You're right except for the fact about the road test. What are you going to use to take your road test? It can't be a CMV because the FMCSA people CLEARLY state you can not use methadone. So how are you going to get your CDL? I see that you're spending alot of time looking for loop-holes when there isn't any. Either stop taking the methadone or find a replacement that the FMCSA will allow. After all, those are the people that are in charge. Not the lawyer that reads some regs or other drivers saying sure go ahead I do it all the time. The FMCSA are the people that are setting the rules for CMV doing interstate travel.

sounds like you have no plans to stop using it? in your postings you flip flop around as if your on it still?but then you say things like im drug free and i am detoxing from the methadone?so which is it? if your still taking methadone then your not drug free. but if you are detoxing from it and are not on it then whats the problem?are you wanting to take it again or something?if so then why detox from it?

after reading all the post it seems like you are still wanting to take it,and are trying to find any way you can to do so?sounds like u need to make a choice, either find something that works that is legal or don't drive.look trucking is very hard on the body for 1 it's nothing like driving a car.it also has a very high stress lvl the schools don't tell ya about.it's far from a cake walk.so on top of all that you want to throw in methadone in the mix not good.now i understand you may have pain? or is this just all drug related?if it's pain i see no problem being able to take meds say if your going to be sitting for 12 hours or so.inever looked into the meds part of it because i have never done anything like that in my life not even beer.but back when i was getting my cdl"2001" i do recall something about a 4 hour on,off period don't know if that goes for meds?

1 thing i picked up on early on in the thread was that he says he's detoxing from the stuff but is trying to find a loophole.hummm that does'nt sound like detoxing to me. now if it's becuase of pain or something then thats 1 thing but that don't seem to be the case.

i do know methadone is just as bad as the streets =.it's just legal but just as addictive.i know cause my brother was on it.and it was worse on him than the street drugs he was trying to get off of."but in most cases it just an easy cheap fix to hold them over until the street drugs come through.it's a crutch bottom line it will not get you off drugs,ONLY YOU can get yourself off drugs bottom line.

This thread has all the signs of a well crafted troll. I'm surprised no one has called it yet

Starting to sound like the clinton administration:

"What do you mean by sex?"

Look im halfway through this thread and im already annoyed.

    Clear and simple:

This drug is at the VERY LEAST highly frowned upong, I dont care how saintly a driver you are it COULD cost people their lives. The rules say no. So the awnser is no. If you find ways around it your a driver I dont want on the road.

    Find a better med.
Or stay the ^&%$ off the highways.

This whole thread reminds me of the people that are all like "Oooh medical weed is diffrent maaan, its so helpful maaan..."

####, drugs are drugs, some drugs you can work on some you cant. Move along.

A trucker on drugs ran over my mother walking home from work....

Dont tell me that your a exception to the rules or your any diffrent.

Rules are there for a reason. I want to be a trucker myself, im going through the tests, but if I cant cut it medically, Im not going to look for a way around it because I could kill someone if I did. If its somthing I can change (weight, strength) I will, but I wont endanger other people even if I think personally that I am capable. You need to quit talking bro, because your only sounding stupid.

    Well said.

The whole intent of the regs is to keep us and everyone else on the road safe. Methadone, usually prescribed as a substitute for and a means of kicking something else. My advice would be to kick the habit and start a new life clean. I know easy to say. But my friend I do know what I speak of. I retired from the Corps after falling from the sky, spending 6 months in the rack, a year in a chair and two years on a cane. My drug was Perks. The VA sent them to me like clock work. 90 tabs the 1st of the month. Every month. Took me a while to get clear and clean.

Bottom line, drugs don't belong on the road.

I got Perk and Vico during my oral surgeries , I found myself liking them too much and had the last round without any...it was agony, but I would rather suffer than risk getting hooked.

Grats on being clean, how long now? :)
